Meet Sammie Lou! This adorable senior girl was surrendered to us after her owner passed away. She’s a 10 year old beagle/basset hound mix and she weighs about 48 pounds. She’s SUCH a sweetheart and she’s good with all people and other dogs. Meet Tom! He’s a 9 year old little tan beagle mix weighing about 35 pounds. He’s smaller than he looks in pictures! He’s super affectionate and sweet, and he loves kids. He’s fantastic with other dogs and loves to cuddle cats, too. Tom came to us because his owner became sick and unable to care for him. Tom is house trained and has good manners. Wishbone is an awesome little guy who will make an amazing addition to any lucky household. He walks well on leash and loves to go on adventures. He is treat motivated, which will be great for training purposes. Wishbone is an active dog and will thrive in a home that can handle his energy and bounciness. He plays well with others and would be a great additional dog to a home or be fine as an only dog with continued socialization. He is a high jumper and will require a tall fence and good handling. We recommend no small children or dog-savvy children as he is still learning some manners and can be bouncy. Wishbone is so loving and has one of the softest coats and amazing eyes! Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. Animal Profile: Bamboo is an estimated 4-year-old 40 lb neutered male Hawaii mixed breed (possibly Basset Hound with whippet... or something...) with the cutest stubby legs, joining us from Hawaii to Seattle area foster care on Tuesday July 9th. Bummer he has some fire ant damage to his right eye but his vision is not affected. This boy is wiggly but happy to go on walks and breezes right by barking dogs in kennels. He needs training on leash but is not reactive, wanted to chase a cat on intro but was easily called away. He did excellent for vet exams -- easy to handle and no resource guarding shown. He loves a kiddie pool and has a nice play style with other dogs and super friendly to all people. He would like other dogs who can tolerate some chasing and tumbling. More info to come as we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Bamboo is such a friendly pup! He wants to meet everyone he comes in contact with and is happy if he can give them a lick or a hug. He is energetic and athletic and loves long walks and even runs–amazing with those cute stubby legs! He will need continued work on his leash skills as he is a bit of a puller, especially when he encounters a squirrel or other small creature, but he is making great progress with a training collar. Bamboo is crate trained and settles well in the house, but prefers to spend his time next to, or on top of, his people. Be prepared for a somewhat oversized lap dog if you are interested in adopting this snuggly guy! Bamboo is gentle and doing well with the toddler in his foster home. He is friendly with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase. We think he would be fine as an only dog or with another pup to run around and get his energy out. He has spent some time in a temp foster and has done very well with their dog savvy cat. He is interested but friendly and has not chased at all. This friendly guy will make a great addition to any family! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate.
