Story
Summer came to us in winter of 2024 as a stray in the verge of starvation. We’ve nourished her back to good health and she’s doing ok now. We do not know her origins but she has done well at responding to basic commands such as sit and come here. We’ve tried our best over the past year to care for her but we were unprepared for a dog of her energy and caliber and have decided it would be best for her happiness to find someone with a more suitable home. Summer needs a large yard or farmland to free roam and we have two acres of unfenced land and every free roam attempt has caused issues with our neighbors. We love her but someone else out there will be able to give her the life she deserves.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are interested in any of the FFOSK9 pups,  the first step is to fill out an application at  http://www.ffosk9resq.org/info/adoption . Loki is a year old 45 pound Malinois that was found wandering a small rural Alabama community. He is neutered,Heartworm negative, up to date on all his shots and started on his monthly preventatives. A good Samaritan came across Loki and brought him home so we do not know much about his history or anything about his parentage.   Loki has come so far since he first came to Furever Friends of the South K-9 Rescue. He has gained a lot of confidence! He is so full of energy, and he is playful, silly, and an all around great pup. However, Loki needs someone that can train him so he can be all that he can be! He is smart, inquisitive, attentive, and focused. Loki loves to play fetch his his tennis ball and will sit, give paw and lay for you and his reward is to chase his ball. You can see more about him on www.ffosk9resq.org   Loki gets along great with other dogs of all ages and sizes and loves to play. He is submissive to other dogs. Good with kids, prefers woman but will warm up to men. He just needs more time trust men.   Loki is leash trained, loves to sleep in bed with his humans, loves to snuggle on the couch during quiet time with his people and lets you watch T.V while he snoozes. He is completely house trained as well. EXPERIENCED HANDLERS PREFERRED ! To apply please visit our website at https://www.ffosk9resq.org/      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes.  We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3  organization.  We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets. We do not adopt to "outside only" homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets.  All pets are completely vetted, up to date on all vaccines, and given rabies certificates.   March 10, 2025, 7:46 pm

Meet Alpine! Alpine is a stunning 4-year-old German shepherd mix with a playful spirit that will melt your heart. She loves to prance around and act like a puppy, especially when she’s playing with her favorite stuffed bunny, a rope toy, or a ball for fetch. Alpine is the perfect combination of beauty, brains, and athleticism, making her a wonderful companion for someone with breed experience. This smart and loyal lady uses her dog door to potty, walks well on a leash, and thrives on mental challenges. She adores running and playing in big yards and gets along well with other dogs who respect her queenly status. While she’s nervous around small children, Alpine would fit beautifully into a home with adults or older kids who can appreciate her personality. Her ideal home has a fenced yard and plenty of love to offer. Alpine is ready to be your loyal and loving companion—she’s amazing and waiting for her forever family!

Elias: Your Loyal Sidekick (Just Not to Cats) Hey there, I’m Elias, a distinguished German Shepherd with the brains of a genius and the energy of a caffeinated tornado. I take my job as your personal bodyguard very seriously—whether it’s protecting you from suspicious squirrels, rogue mail carriers, or that plastic bag blowing down the street. I’m loyal, obedient, and always ready for adventure… but let’s get one thing straight: cats? Nope. Can’t do it. Won’t do it. Those tiny, sneaky ninjas are not to be trusted, and I will absolutely let you know it. Looking for a best friend who will stick by your side (as long as you’re not holding a cat)? I’m your guy!
