Story
Please make sure to read the narrative below our pet's photos as you will find a description of our pet with all we know about them, our adoption fee info, and you will find the link to do our online Adoption Application which is the first step in our Adoption Process!     Please read ALL below where you will find answers about the pet, our adoption fees and how to do our adoption application!   Pet Description: Davina is a sable, female Malinois/Rottweiler that came to us, with her sisters, when the owner did not want them.  She is almost nine-months-old as of mid-March, about 40 lbs. Intelligent and friendly but both breeds need owners who know how to make them a family member that also knows rules to good behavior - NOT a yard dog.    DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more.  (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter).   The first step is to our Adoption Application here:  https://elmorehumane.org/adoption-application-online-form2.html .   IMPORTANT – we respond to your emailed applications and queries via email back to you.  Please make sure you have either added our email  (hselco@bellsouth.net)  to your contact list or that you routinely check your SPAM folder for our response just to be safe. If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant.   To learn more about us, visit our Website at: http://www.elmorehumane.org;  Phone: (334) 567-3377 Fax: (334) 567-8774 E-mail: hselco@bellsouth.net March 14, 2025, 12:04 pm

Story
Minka is a five year old female Belgian Malinois. She came to us via a military family who was moving. We are her third family. She did receive training to work with law enforcement, but she did not complete this due to her nervous temperament. She is quite anxious and does not do well with other dogs. She has been great with our indoor cat and children. She needs an owner that can give her the physical and mental stimulation her breed requires. She is sweet, craves affection, and follows several commands. We have had no issues with potty accidents and she has never jumped on anyone. She has been trained on an electric fence. Her new owner must be patient with this sweet but anxious girl and have time to commit to working with her.

Rubin is a young adult male. If you are a hermit who lives at the lake, Rubin might be the dog for you.  He loves to play in the water and he is very sweet but he is very anxious around new people and changes in his routine or environment.  He does not do well in a car.   He is very sweet and smart.  Rubin will need continued exposure to new things and socialization to keep him outgoing and not anxious or scared.  He does well with other dogs, he likes to play with them but sometimes he will test his canine friends.  He is probably not good with cats. Update 2/1/24.  Rubin is doing better around new people.  He has also been out in the yard with small dogs as well as the big dogs.  He gets excited with the little ones but they put him in his place and he leaves them alone.  He generally doesn't get into anything when loose in the house unless it's yummy left overs, then he might be tempted.  He is doing better about getting in the car.  Once he will get in the car, we will work on road trips.  It's a slow process but it is rewarding to see him work through some of his anxiety. He truly is a people dog.  He will also let you know if one of the other dogs needs to go out.  If they bark, he will bark louder to let you know.  Rubin is a comical dog, if you don't have a sense of humor and patience, he is not the dog for you.   Rubin is working hard to overcome his nerves.    October 27, 2024, 12:57 pm
