Story
Sadly, due to an unexpected change in employment, I will no longer be able to properly take care of Mussa, be with her—breaks my heart. Mussa is a great dog. She is chill tempered at home: loves the couch as much as catching a tennis ball; obedient, very well house trained, loves people's company. She doesn't get along with other dogs. She should be leashed on walks at all times (tends to react aggressively to certain dogs or tries to get away from others). Avoidance strategies are best, unless she can run in a wide enclosed space. She would chase squirrels and deer if allowed! She is very affectionate and loves to be petted. She revs up and gets excited about walks or play. Her obedience and willingness to please make her easy to handle with firm kindness. She's not particularly food oriented. Her her cauliflower ear resulted from a poorly executed surgical intervention. She weighs about 60 lbs, is healthy, and is current on all her shots.

Story
Meet Lola - A Loving Companion in Need of a New Home This is Lola, believed to be a Malinois/Retriever mix, who is five years old and full of love and affection. Lola is a super sweet, loving dog who enjoys belly rubs, playing fetch, squeaky toys, and going for walks. She loves the outdoors and any chance to run around leash free. She has been a cherished member of our family but due to some unforeseen circumstances (finances, personal health issues) we are seeking a new loving home for her. Lola is well behaved, house trained and gets along well with other pets, children and people. She is a joy to be around and would thrive in a home with an active family and/or an experienced dog owner/s. If you are looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy and affection into your life, Lola may be the perfect fit for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are interested in giving her a new home!

If so, Akiro might be the perfect addition to your family. Akiro is a sweet, shy boy who has faced more than his share of challenges. This gentle soul needs a special kind of adopter—someone who can provide the time and care required to help him overcome his fears and become the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. Akiro will thrive best with someone experienced in handling anxious dogs. He needs a patient and understanding approach as he builds trust at his own pace. A calm and steady home environment will help him feel secure, and a predictable routine will make him more comfortable and confident. Positive reinforcement training is crucial for helping Akiro work through his fears. With gentle guidance, he can learn to approach new experiences with greater ease. Building trust with Akiro is a gradual process, so a dedicated owner who is committed to spending quality time with him and introducing him to new things slowly is essential. Once Akiro feels safe, he will reveal his deep affection and loyalty. His gentle nature will shine through as he begins to trust you. He enjoys quiet moments and will thrive in a serene home environment where he can relax and feel at ease. Important Note: Commitment Required Due to Akiro’s sensitive nature and the dedication needed for his development, we are not accepting returns for him. Akiro’s progress is delicate, and it’s essential that he finds a stable, committed home where he can continue his journey without interruption. Akiro needs an owner who is ready to invest in his training and socialization. Moving between homes can disrupt his progress, lead to separation anxiety, and hinder his development. If you’re prepared to offer Akiro a stable and loving environment and are committed to his ongoing growth, we invite you to consider adopting him. Your dedication will play a crucial role in helping Akiro become the confident and happy companion he’s meant to be. __________________________________If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.Apply to adopt at: www.nerdypaws.org Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in Springfield, VA. We do not have a shelter, all of our animals are in foster homes. We require all potential adopters to fill out an application before setting up a meeting with the animal and their foster family. Story
Lily is a lovely 8-12 month old GSD/Belgian Malinois pup that was dumped at a hotel in Houston, Texas and captured the heart of not only the hotel staff but her current foster family who are now looking for her new home (or a long term foster) in the DMV. She is house trained, knows some basic commands (sit, stay, and plays fetch), is learning to walk with a harness, and loves to cuddle. She is a bundle of energy waiting to learn all sorts of new tricks and wants a home where she can be engaged both mentally and physically. She will need someone experienced, no young children in the home, a fenced yard, and willing to be patient and train her. She does well with older children but is unknown with cats. She does not bark or get aggressive when around other dogs on a leash, but is curious, she has not been tested off leash. She will need to be spayed, has started getting shots, has had her first vet visit, and is microchipped.

Story
You wouldn't think it'd be so hard to find a foster or adopter for a beautiful young mal, but here we are posting time and time again over the last few months with absolutely no interest in our girl Phoenix! Abandoned at just 8 months old—pregnant, scared, and left on an elderly man’s property in Corpus Christi, TX—her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. She was rescued just 24 hours before going into labor, and despite being a baby herself, Phoenix gave birth to seven puppies. While not all survived, she fulfilled her motherly duties and is now ready for her Second Start in life. Phoenix is a 1-year-old Malinois mix with the energy and drive typical of her breed. She’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and has the potential to excel at activities like agility, nose work, or obedience training. Her foster mom says she’s a quick study and loves a good challenge. She can sniff out treats like a pro and thrives on both physical and mental stimulation. Phoenix is already crate trained and house trained, though she may need a day or two to adjust to a new environment. While she does well with other dogs, she isn’t the biggest fan of cats, so a cat-free home is ideal--though she is learning to co-exist with them. Phoenix’s ideal family is active and experienced, ready to help her channel her boundless energy into fun and fulfilling activities. Whether it’s hiking, mountain biking, or long runs, she’s the perfect fitness partner. Puzzle toys and training sessions also keep her sharp and happy. Let’s get Phoenix on the road to Virginia and into the loving home she deserves! If you’re ready for a loyal, active, and intelligent companion, Phoenix might just be your perfect match.
