Story
adoption donation : $499 weight 70 lbs  Age: 5 years (DOB 12/9/2019)       Mellie is a purebred AKC registered Belgian Malinois and an awesome dog, she bonds  strongly to her people, is affectionate and loving, and as long as she gets the exercise she needs she is extremely chill in the house and just an easy dog who will make a great companion. Mellie does need a good amount of exercise, she walks well on a leash and will absolutely adore anyone who will throw a ball for her, she can play fetch for hours! Mellie  gets along with other dogs but can be dominant so she needs an owner who will respect her breed and understand that she needs a careful introduction to new dogs.  Mellie is currently in a foster home with a man who is actually a dog trainer and she is learning basic commands, she can sit and stay, lay down and heal. The family recently took in to German Shepherds, a male and a female and Mellie is doing fine with them. Mellie sleeps in a crate at night. Mellie was  originally bought from a breeder by a family who recently had young children and no longer had time for Mellie.  The dog trainer offered to take Mellie and help find her an home. Mellie has had her vaccinations but is not yet spayed. Wags will take care of her spay before an adoption or reimburse the cost at one of the clinics the rescue uses if she is adopted before her spay. Mellie is a great dog who ideally would be best in a home with someone who knows the breed and can give her the structure and exercise she needs.       Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. Story
Meet Cooper Cooper is a stunning and wonderful purebred 3.5 year old GSD. He came from a junk yard two years ago. He is an escape artist. He would do best with a single owner, and could use a job, sport, or some sort of work. He would excel at any assigned task. Cooper was adopted a year ago but sadly, his owner unfortunately experienced medical issues that required him to surrender Cooper back to Lincoln/Cumberland shelter. We met and assessed Cooper, who reminded me a lot of my son's retired military working dog. He will take a bit of time to warm up to a new person, but once he has, in the case of the shelter staff, he is happy and playful. We prefer an adopter to have GSD or Malinois experience. He is not a famly-type pet. Cooper needs a person who understands this type of dog and he needs. His hips look great, and we saw no concerning behaviors. Thank you for choosing rescue.

Story
This is MACON! The handsomest 2 year old male who is a very striking breed of dog and dog. Seriously, we're not sure his breed but we know he'll be a larger pup and he's wonderful. Macon was found running down the middle of the highway in Macon County, was found by some kind souls who took him in. Macon loves other dogs and kids, but he has a bit too much energy for the good Samaritans that found him. He foster sister is a 13 year old Chi that Macon is very respectful to, but the Chi is a bit cantankerous and doesn't like to share. Macon knows his manners, caught on to the basics very quickly, he knows to sit, stay and other basic commands. He absolutely LOVES toys. His fosters say he could chase a tennis ball or frisbee forever (fetch level pro) but he does very well when let inside to cuddle on the couch too. If you are interested in having this wonderful pup join your family, please let us know using this link: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. From there, we'll forward your application to his foster family who will be in touch. ======================================================================================== If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
