Introducing Seamus! This sweet pup came to AFRP from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after he was found by an Animal Control Officer. Seamus had been hit by a car and was in pretty rough shape with an injured leg, but luckily with the help of a corrective surgery and loving care Seamus is ready to start a new life! Seamus is known to be loyal, loving, mellow but still playful, and likes toys, treats and his people. His fosters share that once he is comfortable, he loves to flop on his back for belly rubs and is always thrilled when you come home! More on the shy side, it will take Seamus some time to become comfortable with his new family, so a patient adopter is a must for this sweet boy! Due to his rough start, Seamus will require an experienced adopter who understands dog body language, as well a patient human who will take the time to continue showing Seamus how much life has to give. Adult adopters or families with dog-savvy children over the age of 12 would be best for Seamus at this time. Seamus has shown to do well with both dogs his size and cats, but any introductions to new animals in the home should be done slowly and over time. Seamus will require frequent grooming (brushing, combing, and/or professional grooms every 6-8 weeks) to maintain his coat and avoid harmful matting. Due to his prior injury, it is recommended that Seamus receive daily supplements to support his joint health and ensure his continued well-being.
