Story
My name is Shadow. I am a mix breed doodle, most likely a Bernese mountain dog mixed with a mini poodle. I’m 3 years old. I am very shy, I still like my food put in the kennel so I feel safe when I eat. I really like freeze dried liver or chicken treats. I'm getting better about taking them from your hand. I lived my previous life very secluded so I have had to learn all of my manners. I will wear a collar and/ or a harness now without a problem. I go out to potty on a leash and I am still unsure when it is time to hook it up. I'm getting better. I pretty much figured out potty training, but sometimes my signals aren't the best and they get missed. I started taking my meals in a kennel so I felt safe. I still eat in there but, I've gotten comfortable enough that I will drink out of the community water bowl. I really like to go visit my extended foster family, they have a fence and other younger dogs for me to watch. I don't interact with the dogs much but I really study what they are doing. Sometimes I get an upset tummy in the car. I haven't the last couple of rides so maybe I am out growing that. I love children and tolerate adults well. My foster family think I am very handsome after I got my 1st hair cut ever. I am very quiet, no barking, but if I get startled I will run as fast as I can to my safe place. Here, at my foster house that is my mom's bed. Fireworks on the 4th didn't really bother me, I'd just lift my head up off the couch and put it back down. I didn't have any toys before so I am not sure what to do with them. I also had never been on a walk, I will walk nicely on a 6ft leash, just slightly behind my foster mom. We can't go too far I start to get nervous. I am very sweet pup and will do well with patients and lots of love. Shadow is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in adopting Shadow, please email adoptions.protectingpaws@gmail.com

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $300 plus tax Friendly! Not treat motivated  No accidents No separation anxiety  Dwight would do best in an active home (His foster believes a home without younger children would be ideal) Loves to be outside  Goes on errands with his Foster like Home Depot runs and Petco visits One time Dwight saw a mannequin and nuzzled it's hand so it would 'pet' him - Cute!! Dwight would like everyone who sees him to say hi  Dwight is a handsome Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix! He loves dog parks and playing outside, rolling in the grass. He will do well in a fenced property or farm. He is leash trained, muzzle trained, and crate trained, however, the door often remains open. He’s a quick learner. He’s a little over 2 years old and shy of 100 pounds. He knows no, wait, down, paw, gentle, bed, belly, “get it” to eat, and sit with many more things he’s still perfecting. He loves the butt scratches but when he is sleeping her prefers to be left alone. He can sometimes be a little protective of his chew bones or food. He doesn’t play fetch but he loves chasing a laser like a cat. He prefers humans to chase him as a way of playing. He came from a home with two adults and should not go to a home with children. He’s used to a more quiet space and doesn’t do very well with loud noises. He did a great job outside watching his previous owner in his work shop. He does a great job being an outside guard dog, that’s definitely the Great Pyrenees in him. He loves to work and play. He has a ton of energy.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Story
This is Kit, she’s a Doberman/Great Pyrenees mix born approximately 9/29/22.  Kit has fully acclimated to our home, as a foster, after 13 months here. She has done well at adoption events, curiously sniffing people & enjoying pets. She will always be timid with new people, but is definitely settling in more quickly now that she is gaining confidence. She will cautiously sniff new people & approach, but it will take her a bit to truly invite attention.  She also is responding to the “come” command to get her leash or harness on, where a few months ago, she would run away from the leash the minute it came out.  We moved her kennel, so had a bit of challenge re-orienting her to it, but she still goes in easily & is quiet when there.  If Kit had her way, she would be outside all the time, she LOVES running outside & would do amazing with a dog or two to run around with and a fenced in yard-preferably a privacy fence. She is very dog friendly, but does give cues when she is tired or has a favorite toy/bone. She has started to be a bit dominant when first meeting new dogs, so slow introductions on a leash is best! She would do best with a large fenced in yard, as she wears herself out pretty quickly doing laps. She does have a high prey drive so no cats, birds, rabbits or other small pets. We have chickens and she's VERY interested in them. She comes when called "inside" & knows the "kennel" command. She eats in her kennel & has never made a peep when in it during my work hours. She does bark at most of the passerby's outside on the busy sidewalk, as we live just down from a school, so there is lots of foot traffic. She REALLY likes sleeping in bed with us, but that is a rare occasion. She is getting more snuggly on the couch too & really loves attention, when she is ready for it.  She has recently started laying as close to people as possible on the couch or bed & will roll over for belly rubs.  Due to her cautious nature, older, respectful kids would be best. She will take time and patience to adjust in a new environment but when she does the little things will reward you tenfold. She's been in rescue long enough and would love a home of her own.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 10:58 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $450 plus taxHello, my name is Bob! I’m an 85 pound, 1 yr 3-month old Great Pyrenees x Saint Bernard mix. I love going to stores like Fleet Farm and Home Depot for visiting and training. While I’m out and about I love meeting new people and children especially if they give me treats! I'm a huge fan of couch cuddles, paw rubs, and looking out the window at squirrels.  I’m fully potted trained and proud to say I passed puppy and basic obedience class with flying colors.   I’m looking for an active family that has a fenced backyard so I can roam and spend lots of time in the sunshine.  I’m used to walking 1.5 to 3 miles daily and would love to continue that routine. I would also like a family that is home a lot and not gone for 7+ hours a day. I’m learning kennel training now and doing very well. I would prefer to be with a family that has a medium to large adult dog that is calm, or to be an only child. High-energy dogs make me nervous, and I don’t like that kind of high level of stimulation. I’m not a fan of cats even though I think they look like toys to play with. I may have a loud bark when I see a dog or bike rider outside my window, but I am very loyal and want to protect my family and let them know what I see. Even though I am very gentle with people and little children, I would like someone who has experience with my breed and is a good pack leader for me to follow. If you think I would be a great fit for your family I would love to meet you! Wet nose kisses -Bob-     If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.
