Story
Bruno is a very sweet boy. I found him lost and unwell with a horrible ear infection in my neighborhood. I decided to take him in and he’s been with me since. Unfortunately, I am looking to rehome him as my cats that I adopted before he came did not take a liking to a big dog in the house. He is up to date on all his shots, knows how to sit, and learns very quickly. He is very playful as well. He would benefit from having a family who is able to have him indoors or has another dog he can play with. It took a while for me to put him up for adoption because he holds a special place in my heart, but I would love for him to blossom in a home where his needs can be met. He would be a lovely addition to anyone’s home :) Please feel free to reach out to reach if you’re interested in providing him a home or if you have any questions!

Story
Meet Boots – A Loyal Companion Searching for a Second Chance After 9 years of being a devoted family dog, Boots is now in need of a new home—through no fault of his own (his owners had to move over seas and the home he was going to go through fell through at the last minute). This sweet, well-mannered Mountain Dog/Roitte/Labrador mix has spent his life showering his people with love, and now he’s hoping to find someone who will do the same for him. Boots is the perfect combination of gentle, affectionate, and easygoing. He gets along wonderfully with kids, other dogs, and even cats. He loves walks, belly rubs, and just being by your side—he’s not demanding, just a loyal friend who wants to be part of the family. Why Boots is the Perfect Companion: &#226&#156&#148 Well-Mannered & Social – Loves people of all ages and makes friends easily &#226&#156&#148 Calm & Gentle – No jumping or furniture climbing, just polite companionship &#226&#156&#148 Loyal & Loving – A devoted dog who bonds deeply with his humans &#226&#156&#148 Great House Manners – Knows basic commands and politely asks to go outside &#226&#156&#148 Healthy & Ready for His Next Chapter – Neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped Losing the only home he’s ever known is heartbreaking, but Boots still has so much love to give. He deserves a family who will cherish him for the incredible dog he is. If you’re looking for a faithful, well-behaved companion, Boots is ready to fill your life with love. Boots is waiting for his second chance—could it be with you? This sweet boy is in boarding no understanding where his family went so we would love to get him in a forever home soon!April 7, 2025, 1:18 am

Story
This beautiful soul has been on an incredible journey, enduring a challenging stay at the shelter, waiting and hoping for a loving forever home. Despite his stunning looks and heartwarming personality, Apollo remained overlooked for months. He's a dog who's seen the worst of it yet still holds onto hope and love. Finally liberated from the confines of the shelter, Apollo's enthusiasm for life knows no bounds. His heart is filled with joy, and he's ready to share that boundless affection with a family who sees the gem he truly is. Apollo's a big boy with an even bigger heart. He adores the company of other dogs and revels in playtime. However, he thrives on structure, guidance, and plenty of activity. Smart as a whip, Apollo's intelligence and quick learning skills will astound you. This sweet boy, at around 3 years old and weighing between 60-65lbs, deserves a home that matches his spirit—a place with experienced, loving humans who understand the needs of a larger dog like him. Living in Houston, Apollo has bravely battled heartworm, a common challenge in these parts. But fear not, Scout’s Honor is ensuring Apollo receives the best care. Whether you choose to adopt him now or after he's cleared, we'll continue covering his medical expenses, ensuring he gets the care he needs. He's a fighter and with your support, he'll come out stronger than ever. If your heart swells at the thought of giving Apollo the home he dreams of, please consider fostering or adopting him. Start the journey by filling out an application at www.scoutshonor.org. Your love and compassion could be the key to unlocking Apollo's happily ever after. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Fun playful girlMs Kalei is smart, sweet, and a bit of a goof. Great with other dogs. She is a gentle giant.  She is looking for a home where she has a dog buddy. Kalei is crate trained.   She knows sit and is working on other commands.   Kalei loves adventure and would love nothing more than exploring new walking trails or riding in the car. She is a great dog and will make a fabulous family member. Ms Kalei has not had a lot of luck. She was hit by a car when she was very young and came to the rescue with a broken leg. As soon as her leg was healed, we discovered she had a damaged hip as well.   Kalei has had a hip replacement from the car accident, her broken leg and her hip are both good as new - or bionic! She runs and plays with the rest of the pack.     Kalei is looking for a family that will love her forever!  =========================================================  Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.  Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
