Meet Lia! This naughty little girl is an active, bouncy puppy full of love to toast, she will be plus size, and is learning to walk on a leash. She plays with dogs and is learning that cats can be friends too. She is used to being in her litter, so she needs lots of walks to the park so she can play with lots of dogs. She tends to be very loving, loves affection, cuddles and feeling loved. She is very curious and super fluffy. She currently weighs about 33 pounds. Animal Profile: Rosie is a stunning, 85lb 2.5 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. She was recently surrendered to DGS when her owners were no longer able to meet her needs. They lived on JBLM, and did not have a fenced yard. She had some separation anxiety but was not crated, and accidentally unplugged a hose to the washing machine, which resulted in a little flooding... Rosie was excitable and reactive on leash, and mom was a high risk pregnancy. With two other young children in the household, Rosie's size and behavior became too much to manage. She previously lived with a male dog and two young children and got along great with everyone. They loved her and wanted her to find the perfect family. We promised we would do that for her! Foster Update: Rosie has been working on her crate training and leash manners in foster care with Cortney of mcmonsontrainingcenter.com She is an affectionate, social, playful girl that is friendly with other dogs after introductions. Rosie can be pushy, and would do best with a balanced male companion, male/female pack, or she would be fine as an only dog. We are looking for a home dedicated to continuing her training so she can be the best version of herself and enjoy life out and about with her new family. Rosie would do best in a single family dwelling with a securely fenced yard. No first time dog owners. No apartments. Remy was born in Houston on 3/12/2020. We adopted her at nine weeks old and she has been a joy ever since. She LOVES people and does great with guests and large parties. She is calm, independent, relatively low maintenance, and doesn’t need as much exercise as many breeds. She is highly trainable and can do 25+ tricks/commands. She responds very well to positive reinforcement training and is treat-motivated. She is half Great Pyrenees (a livestock guardian breed), so although she is very well-behaved, she can be a barker. She gets along well with other dogs, but has a tendency to resource guard with them (never with people). She showed one instance of food guarding towards our toddler that resulted in a small bruise, which is the only reason we feel we need to rehome her to a 12 yr+ home. Prior to this instance, she was always amazing with kids. She is the sweetest girl and everyone who meets her loves her. We hope she can find a home with people who love her as much as we do!

Grits are good for you, ask any Southern mama :) You guessed it, my name is Grits and I have a LOT of determination! I came from the pound with HORRIFIC injuries related to a multiple dog attack :( And boy I was in pain and had horrible infections and was so so skinny and just sad... But the rescue peeps fixed me up! It took several weeks of LOVE, good nutrition, wound care and "heart repair" to return my zest for life and to see the glimmer of hope in my eyes... Now I am all fixed up, healthy and happy and READY for you!! Don't ever let me be out on the streets again, fighting off other dogs to live. Give me your COUCH, an air conditioner and lots of love and treats and I will be yours FUREVER!!! And speaking of fur, well, you know I am a Great Pyrenees and we SHED great amounts, so you must love me more than my hair!!! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Palomino is our graceful Great Pyrenees puppy, born around February 6, 2024. Weighing 21 pounds as of May 8, 2024, Palomino survived being stranded on the side of a rural road with her parents, who tragically had ropes tied around their necks and were found deceased. Palomino and her siblings were desperately trying to nurse from their dead mother when they were rescued. The puppies were split into three groups between three rescues due to the amount of care they required. Unfortunately, all the puppies were extremely sick when they arrived at the rescue, and shortly after, they contracted parvo. Thanks to dedicated care and her fighting spirit, Palomino was one of three that survived. Palomino is the leader of her pack. She is very smart and loving. Palomino is going to be about 75 pounds when fully grown. They also have issues with extreme heat due to their coat. The breed is also notorious fence climbers. This pup is not being adopted to be a working dog living with livestock. She wants to sign up for the AC living room. Palomino still needs to learn how to walk on a leash and would thrive in a home that can provide the training and patience she needs. Her adoption fee is $300.
