Story
Meet Felicity! Felicity is 3 year old, 13 pound Bichon Frise. Felicity is a rescue from a puppy mill, where she lived her entire life in a cage. Though she's had a very hard life, she is looking for a loving and caring forever home where she can finally experience love and care she deserves! Felicity is shy and nervous around humans at first, but little by little she is coming more out of her shell. Her foster family is still getting to know her, but from what we can tell, she is full of love and has a sweet personality. Felicity is still trying to figure out what a dog is supposed to do, as leash walking, treats, and playing are all new to her. She will need a calm, patient household to help her blossom. Felicity has caught on to house training quickly, and does very well with other dogs! She would prefer a forever family who is home more often than not, as she doesn't like to be away from her people for long. If you're a quiet home filled with patience, love, and understanding, Felicity might be your pup! Felicity is currently being fostered in Queens, NY. Her adoption fee is $600 Felicity is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Leslie! Leslie is a beautiful 2 year old, 14 pound Bichon Frise. Leslie is a shy girl, as she came from a puppy mill, but is slowly warming up and getting comfortable. She is a very sweet dog, and is great with humans, dogs and cats. For the moment, she would do well in a calmer environment. Her favorite thing is sitting by the window and watching the world roll by, or exploring and then re-exploring our apartment. When she's not too tired, she is a big fan of head and belly rubs, and will even give the occasional kiss. As she is getting more comfortable around her foster people, she is beginning to show this behavior more and more. At the moment she is a bit hesitant to go outside, but she is a pro at using the puppy pads. She has a healthy appetite. She likes kibble, but loves wet food. Leslie will make an excellent addition to your home. She is the sweetest little girl, and will benefit greatly from your love. Leslie is currently being fostered in Brooklyn, NY. Her adoption fee is $600. Leslie is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. Story
Rocky is a 7 yr. old, neutered male bichon. Although Rocky supposedly lived with another dog in his previous home, he's been in foster care for awhile now, and we believe he needs to be an only dog. When he has been with other dogs in his foster home, scuffles and jealousy have been a consistent issue. He's much happier as an only dog. Rocky is house trained as long as he gets out regularly. If he is left alone for long periods of time or not given regular opportunities to go outside, he will mark in the house. Rocky LOVES visitors. He will snuggle up to anyone who comes over to get some love. However, his favorite thing is to just hang with his trusted peeps. We don't have kids in our household, and given his alpha personality, we think Rocky would probably do best in an adult home. However, with all the adult visitors that have come to our house, with very few exceptions, Rocky has been extremely friendly. He is put off by loud, "in your face" behavior. This causes him to be very tentative. If we are running errands and are just going to be running in and out of stores for a minute here and there, Rocky comes along for the ride. He's a great traveler and LOVES coming along. If he's welcome in a store or restaurant and there aren't a lot of other dogs, we bring him along. He's great with PEOPLE, but not so much with other dogs. Rocky is a couch potato when you want to sit on the couch and watch a movie or take a nap. However, he's also extremely active and playful. If you don't feel like playing with him, he'll find a toy or a dog bed and play with it all by himself. He can be a hoot to watch. If he feels you are not giving him an appropriate amount of attention, he will come over and either sit on top of you or "paw" you until you start doing your job! (i.e., petting him or playing with him!) Rocky's photos don't do him justice. We took them when he first arrived and they don't show his true personality. He's absolutely adorable. Just like all bichons, he's adorable, but his personality makes him even cuter. Everyone who visits falls in love with him.
