This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Dasha is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves spending time with people. She is the ultimate cuddle bug! She likes meeting other dogs, both big and small. We have not seen her with a cat and would likely do best in a home without cats. She would love to have another playful canine sibling or lots of opportunities for play with other dogs. She prefers to play in small groups, 1-2 dogs at time. She is known as the Queen of the Dog Park but would prefer to go during the quiet hours! She can get excited on leash and will bark and try to chase wildlife. She struggles with moving objects such as bikes, scooters, runners while she is on leash, and she is working hard with our training team to feel more comfortable in those situations. She can also bark at wildlife while in the home, but limiting access to the windows has helped significantly! Dasha would love a fenced yard where she can play and run, but this girl has some hops so a 6 foot fence is preferred! She is housetrained but does not enjoy being in a crate. She has done well left alone for a few hours, but would prefer a home where someone is home more than not . She has been left alone free roaming for 4 hours at time and has done well. She has the perfect mix of play energy and snuggle time. She would be happy to crash on the couch after a trip to the dog park or a good walk. We strongly encourage basic obedience training for all our dogs, as it not only helps your dog blossom into a well-balanced canine citizen with good manners, but it also helps to form a lasting bond between your dog and the humans in your family. Dasha would excel at sports classes such as agility, rally, or nosework! Dasha is an active and happy girl who just wants a loving forever home. Can you make her dream come true? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love to have her join your family! Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
