Story
Rae is in foster and her foster says she is a great puppy!With treats she has learned `Come` `Sit` and `Down`. When she is told `Crate` she will bounce all the way to her crate, jump in, turn around, sit and wait for her treat or meal. Her afternoon meal is given in a puzzle, to exercise her busy brain. Rae is housetrained, but if you don`t pay attention to her request to go outside, she may have an accident at the door, while she waits for you to let her out. We are still working on `Off` and `Stay`, with her puppy excitement these are very challenging requests! Walking on the leash is okay, lunging and pulling when excited still needs work.When it`s just Rae and her person, she is wonderful! She will stay on the couch with you and play with her toys, or sit at your feet (with her toys) while you are doing desk work. When Rae is not crated, she is closely supervised (stays on leash for quick correction, if needed),since she is still a puppy, curiosity may get her into trouble. Toys are very important, to chew and chase. Rae loves to play ball, she will bring the ball back, she is learning `Out` to release the ball so it can be thrown again and again and again...Rae is learning how to show respect to the household cat. She takes correction from the household dog well. They both have very high energy so after some heavy duty playing, chasing and wrestling they must be separated for rest and to prevent over stimulationRae shows many characteristics of the Black Mouth Cur dog, she is very intelligent (boredom could cause destructive behavior), she is attentive, and ready to learn! She is showing signs of wanting to herd, hunt and she will try to `protect` foster mom from foster sister by standing in front of foster mom to keep foster sister back. Rae will let you know if someone is getting too close to the property.The ideal home for Rae would be a working farm, she has the energy and stamina to keep up with daily chores. She takes correction and learns from her foster sister very well. She learns fast and eager to learn more. She may do well with an active family (children over 10) but just one or two walks a day will not be enough for Rae, she has the energy for long hikes everyday for adventure and new discoveries. Rae is not a couch potato, she needs activity and new challenges!
