With her gorgeous blue coat and adoring eyes, Melrose May will grab attention wherever you go. But more importantly, her sweet, loving, and loyal demeanor makes her an excellent companion. This smart girl is already fully potty trained and crate trained, and shes learning commands like sit, stay, and come. Shes food motivated by just about any treat you have, and is a quick learner. Melrose is incredibly sweet and loving. She loves to cuddle with you and give plenty of kisses. Her favorite pastimes include spirited rounds of tug-of-war, gleeful squeaker toy romps, and savoring every delectable bite of her salmon treats. She is great with all humans, including the littlest ones too. We estimate that Melrose is about 2 years old and may be a Blue Lacy or Pitbull mix. The Blue Lacy is the state dog of Texas and its where the breed originates from. But with rescue, we cant guarantee age or breed since its a bit of a guess. She weighs 47 lbs and is the perfect size for couch snuggles, and neighborhood walks. Speaking of walks, shes pretty easy on the leash. Melrose lives in a loving foster home where she gets the attention, care, and training to help her be the most successful she can be in her forever home. She lives with multiple other dogs ranging in weight from 40-80 lbs and she incorporated into the pack with no issues. While she lives with a cat, shes a bit too interested in him and would do best in a home without kitties. Melrose is a playful girl and would do best with other dogs who like to play. Shes great at reading other dogs body language and she wont pester other dogs. Shes happy to just hang out with her doggy friends if thats all they want to do, but she prefers to have a moderate playmate. While she's not a big barker, she will bark sometimes if someone knocks on the door, or if other dogs are barking. For this reason, apartment living may not be the best choice for her. Melrose is a momma dog who was amazing to the only puppy she was found with. Were not sure if there were others, or what happened to them. This almost 2 years old, 57-pound cattle dog/pit bull blend was surrendered to the shelter by the only family that he knew because of behavior issues. We have found that JACKSON loves people and is easy on leash. Because of his difficult past, sweet JACKSON needs a special foster home that is pet-free and kid-free! ***NEEDS FUREVER HOME*** Currently in Boise, ID Meet affectionate ~7-month-old, 24 lb PAPRIKA who was lucky to score a loving foster home in mid-June with other dogs and a cat. She is now looking for a furever home without small kids. Foster mom is learning a lot about PAPRIKA who she renamed KYVAH. KYVAH is a typical active puppy who needs a patient family to help her with socialization. KYVAH is already house-trained and crate-trained. She is smart and has lots of potential, but she appears scared (barks or backs away) and does not have the self-confidence to be able to greet strangers. Foster mom is working on more socialization with people by bringing her on walks with her mobility scooter. KYVAH likes to play with other dogs (check out video of her with big dog AZURE and foster sibling) and is fine with the resident cat (see video). She does show herding behaviors (e.g., nipping), so we are likely looking for a home without small children. KYVAH is happy playing at home in her yard and gets lots of enrichment through dog puzzles. She is still showing separation anxiety, so would prefer a family with someone home a lot. We also know that KYVAH gets extremely car-sick, so may not be a good dog for adventures. ***NEEDS FOREVER HOME*** Currently in Malta, ID ---POSSIBLE THERAPY DOG--- Meet 8 month old, 23-lb BOB who was hit by a car and has already had 3 surgeries to repair both upper leg bones. Fortunately, we scored an excellent, experienced medical foster home who has nursed BOB back to a healthy condition and socialized him, so he is ready for his furever home. His furever family just needs to know that he will have some physical limitations. BOB needs to gain strength and endurance which will come in time. From the foster mom's perspective, BOB is an absolute charmer! He loves a lot of attention. He bonded quickly with her and has become a velcro dog. He's still skittish around strangers (especially men). He will let you know when he needs to go outside or hungry or just wants some cuddle time. BOB is great with cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits...all kinds of animals. He shows no food or other resource reactivity with animals or people. BOB is house-trained and crate-trained (it is his safe place). He has been trained to stay off of furniture. He has been taught to walk beside his handler even without a leash. BOB is still getting used to getting into vehicles, but once he gets in, he really enjoys going for a ride and he's very well-behaved. Foster mom believes that BOB would make a really good therapy dog because he seems to have a lot of empathy when someone is sad or lonely. So BOB isn't perfect...if BOB doesn't get your attention or if he is left free in the house while you do an errand, he will make his presence known...he will find a work glove or slipper or tennis shoe and chews on it. What's interesting about this, is he gets one shoe/slipper from every person in the house!
