Story
Meet Maynard (or Mater, as he's affectionately known)—a 60-pound, 3-year-old Heeler mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality! This energetic and friendly pup loves to explore the great outdoors and snuggle up with his favorite human. He's a smart, curious boy who loves toys—especially squeaky ones—and he’s always up for a game of chase, even if he hasn’t quite mastered retrieving yet. After spending a year at a shelter, he's adjusting quickly to the comforts of home life. Maynard is fully house-trained with no accidents and willingly goes into his crate without fussing. Future training will be a breeze because he's already making great progress with leash walking and curbing his enthusiasm for jumping up. This sweet boy thrives on attention and loves to burrow into you for pets. While he does well when left alone during the day, he’ll need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy. A fenced yard would be ideal to let him run and burn off energy, though an active family willing to provide outdoor adventures could also keep him content.Maynard may need some guidance on making friends with other dogs, or may prefer to be the only dog in the household, as he's a little dog-selective when he plays with his foster siblings. He hasn't had much interaction with cats or kids while in our care, so careful introductions are recommended. He’s looking for patient adopters who will continue his training, embrace his playful spirit, and provide the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic companion to join your adventures, Maynard is ready to meet you!If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
