Story
OPTIMISTIC GOOFBALL  Estimated date of birth is 8/8/22, weight 55 lbs.   So what is a Blue Lacy, you might ask? Why, it’s the State Dog of Texas, of course!  https://www.thesprucepets.com/blue-lacy-breed-profile-4769790 Kip is a fun junky that loves to play with other dogs (sometimes it looks like Wrestlemania), but his second favorite activity is to hang out with his foster mom, chewing on a good bone.  He’s such a goofball, always optimistic, always sure that a treat is hiding in your pocket and it has his name on it!  A sweet potato – yes.   A couch potato – not so much, although when he’s finally worn out, he does relax and loves to be petted while he snoozes on his dog cot. Kip has been to obedience school and knows the basics (Sit, Down, Place, Wait).  He also knows how to use the doggy door and stairs, is OK with baths (he splashes around in the pond at the dog park), and looooves to go on walks (and doesn’t pull much). This boy had a rough first year of his life: abandoned at a large park, found his way to a kennel, was picked up by the City Pound, caught parvo at the pound and wound up on the euthanasia list before his foster mom sprung him!  Kip’s ideal home environment would have a mom / dad with an active lifestyle, a spunky little canine sister to play and snuggle with, and a nice size backyard to run around and get the zoomies out.  Are you up for it!? HOPE ID: D24-0113-0003 If you are interested in Kip and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you. March 12, 2025, 9:48 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Jax! I’m a 16-month-old Blue Lacy mix (or at least that’s what the humans think!) weighing in at 55 pounds of pure love and energy. I’m on the hunt for my forever family—could it be you? I’m a happy, playful pup who LOVES being around people. Whether we’re going on an adventure, playing fetch, or just hanging out, I’ll always be by your side. I’m always up for fun and would make an amazing hiking buddy, jogging partner, or sidekick for any adventure. I love staying active and engaged, and I’d be thrilled to find a family who enjoys that too! I get along with other playful dogs who match my energy, but cats? Not so much—sorry, feline friends! I’ve been through puppy training, I know my basic commands, and I even have e-collar training, so I’m a smart boy who’s eager to please. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal, and adventure-ready best friend, I’m ready to meet you! Apply to adopt me at bigloverescue.org

Story
From Chip's foster mom: We helped take care of Bea’s litter as they were growing up, and my son and I often referred to the sable boys as “The Chipmunks”. So when Busy joined us - and his two sisters we had adopted - we started calling him Chip! Chip was born May 6, 2024. He is 50% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% collie and 25% a mix of other breeds. He is up to date on vaccines, HW negative and soon to be neutered and weighs around 40 lbs. Chip is a sweet, sensitive soul. It’s hard not to adopt him ourselves! He takes some time to warm up, but once he knows he is safe, he’s in your arms in no time. He enjoys sitting with us on the back porch and watching the other dogs play, observing the chickens, ducks, and goats in the back of the property, and taking it all in. He’ll also climb in our laps on the couch. He has been started on loose leash walking and basic manners. He is very food motivated, and loves to carry around toys. Chip is willing to try new things, with lots of encouragement and a slow, steady pace. He is crate trained, and only takes a short time to settle in. He does need to eat his dinner out of a slow feeder bowl otherwise he is quite the fast eater! He has started getting accustomed to having his nails dremeled when on the grooming table. Chip would do best in a home with a confident but friendly and mild mannered dog (male or female), or be the only dog. He has a tendency to want all of the attention to himself and has occasionally let the other dogs in his foster home know that he wants left alone while he gets attention. I would not suggest he be around cats or small animals, as he has shown quite an interest in our Chinchilla and the outdoor cats. I would recommend him with kids over 10, as he will jump to get attention (we’re still working on that!) and his nervousness in new situations. When he gets nervous he just belly flops or “puts on the brakes”. He is motivated to move by positive words and especially tidbits of food. Chip doesn’t love car rides since he still gets a little carsick, but if his human is going - I’m sure he’d be happy to tag along to quiet places. Chip is looking forward to settling in with his lifelong family! Will this sweetheart be your match? Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org
