Story
Name, age, breed: Millie, 8m, Border collie mixLikes: Adult strangers, cuddling, laying on the bedDislikes: Children, being alone but starting to feel more comfortable apart. What would be the ideal home? A quiet, adult only home that has time to take her out for walks a few times per day. She would love a yard where she can sniff and explore. Good with other cats? Unknown but does have some prey driveGood with dogs? Depends on the dog. Scared of high energy dogs. May be fine with another quiet dog who respects her space. Good with children? No. Adult or older teenager home onlyTemperament: Shy, nervous, quiet, happy. Best happy wiggle-butt ever. Motivators? Happy and enthusiastic positive talking. Verbal praise.Any commands? None. Somewhat knows “go lay down”House trained? YesCrate trained? She doesn’t’ enjoy the crate and will cry for a little bit but will then settle. She needs more positive reinforcement crate training. How long will it take to settle into a new environment? 3-3-3 rule: First 3 days - Your dog may be overwhelmed and may hide, have a lack of appetite, or test boundaries. Give them space and time to adjust in a quiet room with their bed, food, water, and toys. 3 weeks - Your dog may start to settle in and their personality will emerge. You can expect behavior issues to arise, so set boundaries and expectations with positive reinforcement training. 3 months - Your dog should be comfortable and acclimated to your home. They should know their routine and expect meals and enrichment at specific times.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Millie is still exploring the world so needs a home that will let her learn at her own pace and with positive guidance. She is still a puppy and has some puppy characteristics, like chewing shoes. She’s nervous in the car but starting to settle more each time. Low food motivation. Picky/particular eater. Doesn`t love children. Excited to meet other dogs but if they are a lot of energy or get in her space, she gets scared. Was indifferent when she met a dog who had no interest in her after the initial sniff greeting. House trained but still learning to do her business in a timely manner while out. Particular where she does her business. Story
Dexter is a loving and loyal young dog who thrives on companionship. His friendly nature and playful curiosity make every day an adventure. He’s affectionate and enjoys cuddles, forming strong bonds with his people. Dexter also has a natural protective instinct and will be devoted to those he loves. This smart boy is a great listener and eager to learn, making him an excellent fit for an experienced handler who can provide leadership and guidance. Due to his resource guarding tendencies, Dexter needs a confident owner who understands canine behavior and can continue working with him. He requires an adult-only home with no children and would do best in a structured environment where he gets plenty of exercise, training, and mental stimulation. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will always have your back, Dexter is ready to meet you! The adoption fee includes Vaccinations: This includes: Rabies Leptospirosis Distemper Infectious Hepatitis/Adenovirus Parvovirus Parainfluenza Lyme Bloodwork: Testing for heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma Deworming Spay/Neuter Microchipping If the dog required any other vet treatment or surgery while in our care, this is also included in the adoption fee. All known medical information is explained to adopters prior to adoption. All our dogs come with a leash, collar, toy and a small bag of kibble. We put a lot of work, time, care and love into each one of these dogs. They are treated like one of our own. We are open and transparent about the dogs in our care.
