Angus is ready for a forever home! 10 thumbnailAngus is ready for a forever home! 11 thumbnailAngus is ready for a forever home! 12 thumbnailAngus is ready for a forever home! 13 thumbnail 🐾Gus is on the search for his Forever Home🐾 Sweet Gus was on the Euthanasia list in a high kill shelter in TX after being hit by a car. One of our rescue affiliates in TX had pulled him as he was such a sweet boy and had to save his life and we are grateful that she did. Gus is a wonderful boy with an amazing disposition and just wants to be loved ❤. Gus is fully vetted, 1 1/2 years old, and weighs 62 lbs. We are not really sure of his breed but whatever he is, he is a true lovebug who adores his people and children. He is fine with cats, and does best with dogs closer to his size or larger. Gus would make an amazing family dog and deserves to find a loving forever family. To give this boy his forever home. #shelterdogsrock #saveadogslife #foreverhomewanted

Story
Their owner passed away January. There are 2 dogs. No family/friends to take them. They are a mans dog. Was a single older man that raised them. They are good dogs. Will take food from my hand (female) but will not let me pet them. Will allow my husband to pet them, they love on him. My son sometimes. Again, a man's dog. Skittish of others. They are an indoor /outdoor dog. Since owner's passing they have been outdoors. They are due for their vaccines but were up to date prior. Do not believe they are fixed-seen them try to hump a smaller female dog. Really need to find them a loving home. Both dogs are 5 yrs in age and brothers. The owner raised them since birth. They are not trained other than basic commands - sit, lay, ect but will only adhere to a man. They listen to me as far as telling them to go to their resting area. Very quiet dogs. They do not jump on you or get in your face. Be nice to keep them together. But if you h ave to separate then you just do. (Male Dogs) Thank you

Story
Rachel - Border Collie/Lab mix - Female - 4.5 yrs - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Meet Rachel: this gorgeous 4.5-year-old Border Collie Lab has returned to us as her needs and her families availability simply grew apart, like it happens sometimes. Rather than fitting a square peg into a round hole, it was determined that Rachel would be happier in a home that can more closely fit her needs. Rachel likes to have something to do, either playing with a toy or one of her dog friends or going for a walk. She seems to have a permanent smile on her face, and loves attention. She can be a little sneaky and will find unsecured garbage cans and unattended food - as she is very smart. She fine with relaxing with her pack after some playtime. Rachel is fine with most other dogs - she can be a little slow on picking up subtle social cues form other dogs ("I don't want to play right now" - "OK, how about now" 5 seconds later...) so tolerant dogs are the easiest fit, and while she is pretty easily corrected and redirect, you may have to repeat yourself a few times for her to believe you. She does want to please her humans and loves to cuddle. Rachel does not like to be left alone, and is looking for a home where someone is home a lot and can devote time and energy to her exercise, training and give her the attention and affection she craves. Some dogs handle changes easily, Rachel is not one of them, so an experienced and patience handler is preferred. Rachel would do best in a home with another dog or more than one, she loves kids, is house trained, but does not like to be alone and is not a fan of the crate. She can be crated and is currently crated, albeit in a rather high security crate. She is highly food motivated, which is great for training, is fine in the car, her leash training could use some fine tuning, but she is making great progress and has attended numerous group classes with her trainer with great success. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a fun loving girl look no further. You have found her!!!  Abbie is part Border Collie and Part just plain adorable.   She is shy at first but once she warms up is a lover.    Abbie has terrific focus and  will learn very quickly.   She will be a loving companion to anyone needing a cuddle bud.   =========== Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . ADOPTION FEE:  The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, Microchip including a lifetime registration and spay/neuter.   PUPPIES   Texas State law requires that we sterilize any animal adopted through this agency.     This will normally occur between 5 and 6 months at one of our approved veterinarians at the expense of the rescue. Children under 8 years old  often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Approval:  You will be notified via email once your application is approved.  Once notified, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our approved locations.   Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.
