Meet Henry! He’s a loveable, 76lb, neutered male, border collie mix who is about 3-5 years old. He loves going on walks, exploring in his yard, cuddling with his people, and is shameless about asking to be petted with a head nudge. He knows basic commands (sit, shake, down), enjoys his kennel, and is house trained. While he is fostered in a home without other pets or children, he has interreacted well with other dogs and would be best with older children. Lucy was found as a stray in a beautiful wooded neighborhood in NW Houston, likely dumped. This is unfortunately a common occurrence in this area. Lucy may be a purebred dog but we have no way to confirm this. She is a Smooth Coated Border Collie. Her age is also in question, so we are guessing she is about 5-6 years old. Lucy comes from a working breed and lives up to this reputation. She is not a dog companion. She does however like to keep all the dogs in the household in line. Lucy is a low energy dog enjoying lounging in her favorite spots on the stair landing or in front of the window where she can monitor all activity inside and outside. Other things she really enjoys are her daily walks (verbalizing her excitement), watching tv with you (and getting a back scratch), and crawling in bed in the morning to say hello. Lucy is very loving and affectionate, and would do really well as an only dog to a person or family with no small children. She does not mind children, but has a delicate back leg that should not be climbed on. She has been on a good joint supplement for this and it should be continued. Lucy is raw fed and has blossomed on this protocol. It helps her joint issue and keeps shedding from her silky coat to a minimum. We are looking for adopters that would continue this diet. She is house trained and extremely reliable. Lucy does not chew or destroy items left out. She is HW negative, spayed and up to date on her rabies vaccine. Mikka is a 40 lbs, spunky Border Collie mix. This girl is really loving life. She is a very sweet girl, but is still uncertain about a lot of things so she needs people that will help her learn and feel secure in the world. She enjoys meeting new people, going on car rides, and LOVES spending time outdoors. She is young with a lot of energy and needs positive training. Mikka is very smart and catches on to new things quickly. She knows sit and down, but we’re still working on stay and her leash walking is coming along really well. She does well with other dogs that can handle her energy, but does require slow introductions, she would love to have a playmate. She needs an active family that will keep both her mind and body stimulated. She is slowly learning to be a great cuddler. Mikka is a very sweet girl and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. She has a lot of herding instincts and would be great for working/sports/competition. Est dob: 1/22/2019 Drax is a calm, friendly, affectionate, and very easy going guy. He’s about 4 years old and is an Australian Shepard mix. He is in a home with other dogs and has been with teenage kids as well. Drax is house broken, but always expect an adjustment when any pet enters a new environment. Unfortunately, Drax was fed way too much by his previous owners and has become a little overweight. He currently weighs in at 160 lbs which is way too much for him! He is on a vet supervised caloric diet which he has done very well with and has already started to lose some of those extra pounds! He is becoming more energetic as 4 year old dog should be, by playing more with his current foster's dog and toys. He would be a great addition to a family wanting to help him on his journey with starting off with slow short walks as he works towards his goals. Drax is in a foster home with other dogs and adults that he does well with. Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. Melo will be two years old I’m November 2024. She’s smart, affectionate, and energetic. She loves to run, play fetch, chase anything on a rope or string, play tug of war, play in water, and learn new tricks and skills. She needs lots of love and attention and exercise and we just aren’t able to provide that for her. She’s been to obedience school and knows many basic commands and skills. She gets very excitable when new people are around and sometimes needs a few minutes to settle down. We hate to let her go but we just can’t giver her the attention and exercise she needs.
