Story
Sammy was a family pet when she was a puppy, raised by a loving family with children until unexpected allergies became an issue. She was then adopted into a military home which was in need of a service dog. She was put into extensive emotional support pet training, specifically in the mental health field. She was a service dog used for a military veteran who eventually was unable to care for her, which led to her being overfed and not active. She was put into a shelter and then adopted by me! Sammy is now twelve years old, she is healthy, and has broken most of her emotional support habits and has learned to play and act like a regular dog. Sammy is cheerful, bubbly, and quite preppy for her age. Though she is very relaxed, chill, and loves to sleep too! She is playful with other dogs at first, though she can become very territorial and protective of her space. We are looking for a loving home that can provide Sammy with happiness and comfort in her later years in life.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. When Bandit was picked up by Animal Control in rural Oklahoma, he was almost completely feral. He acted like a dog who had never had any interactions with humans -- he wasn't aggressive at all, but he definitely had ZERO trust for humans and did everything possible to avoid being touched or handled. Over many months of work, we earned his trust, and he began to act as though he actually ENJOYED interacting with us. Once Bandit reached the point where he could be handled without causing him too much stress, we took care of his veterinary needs and then moved him to a foster home where he could learn more about being a house pet. He learned to walk very nicely on a leash, and he even does well walking on a coupler with another dog. He prefers sleeping in a crate at night, and happily puts himself to bed at the end of each day. Bandit gets along really well with other dogs, and is very playful. He doesn't discriminate either -- he plays with dogs of all sizes and ages, and plays with just as many male dogs as female. He has learned to tolerate grooming, and we think he actually enjoys being brushed, which is a good thing, considering his beautiful, plush coat. When our chores are done and we sit on the sofa in the evening, Bandit is often the first one to come and sit next to us and nudge our hand with his nose to ask for some attention. He has definitely come a VERY long way from the frightened, feral dog we picked up in January of 2018. Working with dogs like this takes lots of time and patience, but the rewards are immeasurable. Bandit is still shy on meeting new people, but he definitely warms up. He does best when he has at least one other dog around who is confident/trusting of humans, because he will follow their cues. And besides, he really likes playing with another dog, so is just happier when he has a companion. If you have a friendly dog who needs a great playmate, and you are ready to commit to spending 2-3 months earning Bandit's trust, please visit our website to learn more about our adoption process and complete an application: https://www.bluebonnetrescue.org/info/adoptionVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 13, 2024, 2:35 pm

Story
Hi my name is Teddy and I am ready to find my forever family. I’m full of fun loving energy and adore long walks through the neighborhood and playing ball in the backyard. (I’ll help you keep that exercise resolution you made!) I enjoy roughhousing with my foster brother and sister, so an energetic canine sibling would be just grand. I have not been officially cat tested, but enjoy barking at and pulling on the leash to chase the cats I see on my daily walks. Being that I am still a puppy at a year old and 40 pounds, I will do best with kids over 10, although I do fine with tiny humans as young as a year old for short periods of time. I am 100% potty trained, vetted and crate trained. Although I can be vocal in the crate, I don't play Houdini and make great escapes. I am being fostered in Amarillo but can travel to my new family. I am healthy, neutered, and fully vaccinated.

Story
Meet Estee, a sweet 9-year-old Border Collie with the heart of a puppy and a playful spirit that never fades! Estee was rescued from a hoarding situation, but despite her past, she absolutely loves people and is happiest when she’s by your side, sharing in every moment. She’s incredibly friendly, great with kids, and always wagging her tail at everyone she meets—both human and canine. Estee is learning to sit, is potty trained (but does best with a puppy pad available just in case), and doesn’t mind riding in the car, though she’s not a big fan of being in a crate. While she can get a bit of a one-track mind when chasing her favorite toy, her enthusiasm is part of her charm. Estee has so much love to give. She’s truly the sweetest little senior, full of energy and joy, looking for a forever home where she can spend her days surrounded by love and warmth. If you're searching for a loyal companion, Estee is the perfect match! 🐾❤️ please apply to adopt at bcrrt.com

Story
Dug is a sweet, loving, cuddle bug! He is healthy, neutered, vaccinated, 47 lb, 5-6 years old. He is being rehomed due to anxiety he began to exhibit around owner's one year old. Dug loves to play and he plays well with other dogs. He is a big fan of frisbee, tug, chasing the remote control car, and running alongside us when we rollerblade. He loves being in the car and going on adventures. He's incredibly friendly and gives the best cuddles and snuggles. He walks well on a leash, is house trained (and doggy-door trained), he does well getting his nails trimmed and dremmeled, and is patient when he gets a bath. He loves to be lazy on the couch just as much as he loves to play. Dug does show some signs of anxiety in new environments so introductions need to be slow and calm, and he will need plenty of adjustment time in your home. He should not be in a home with small children - otherwise, he is a great dog!
