Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Lucy, a border collie mix, was born 11/6/22 and weighs about 50 lbs. Lucy was returned to the shelter after her original adopters sadly determined she just wasn't the right fit for them, nor they for Lucy. 5/26/24 marked ONE YEAR that Lucy has been waiting for the perfect partner in crime -- uh, we mean, FUN. This sleek bodied girl is full of energy and would love a home with an active person who would like to take her hiking or on other outdoor adventures. Lucy has spent a lot of her life in the shelter so she will need an experienced dog owner to teach her the rules of her new home. She does very well with her routine here, thankfully exhibiting zero kennel stress, and we believe she will adapt well in a patient home that could also provide her with a routine to follow. She has a touch of "stranger danger" but warms up quickly. Lucy gets along with most other dogs but we believe she would do best as an only dog in the home, with friends outside of the home to play with. Lucy tends to be protective of her toys while she is playing, and needs a person who can respect her "me-time" with toys and understand she isn't one to share. Lucy views cats as mobile squeaky toys, so no cats in her family please - just human(s) and Lucy would be perfect. She is kennel trained, potty trained, and has learned commands such as sit and wait. We do not recommend children for this high energy girl. Lucy is a busy girl with high intelligence. She loves learning new things, and wants a go-go-go lifestyle of hiking or agility or just plain PLAY time. We just know the right home is out there waiting for her! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Lucy is a suggested minimum of NO FEE - LONG TIMER (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Norway, about 1 1/2 years old, arrived as a stray, found wandering in a remote wooded area. No one ever came to claim this lovely, shy border collie mix, so now you have a golden opportunity to bring this girl home and show her all the joy in life! She has a terrific, gentle disposition and enjoys other dogs, cats, and calm children. She warms up to new people slowly - she may have been yelled at or neglected in her prior life - and once she knows she's not in trouble and the people are nice to her, her tail starts wagging faster and faster. This girl is ready to become an amazing family companion, and would enjoy an active lifestyle. Norway has lots to learn about how to dog, and with her intelligence and gentle nature, should train easily with positive training methods. Any sort of punitive training using pain or sternness would likely crush her blossoming spirit, so only gentle souls with patience and love need apply to invite Norway home. She could be a fun agility dog, or just a happy adventure companion. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Norway is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you!
