Story
5 years old (estimated) Neutered male 79 lbs. Did well with another dog in the home No known experience with cats or children Moose is a fun, friendly boy with a playful spirit and a love for giving hugs! He’s a smart pup who knows "sit," has great recall, and seems to be potty trained — though his excitement sometimes gets the best of him, making it hard for him to sit still. Moose adores attention and has a heart full of love to give. With his silly antics and affectionate nature, he’s sure to bring plenty of joy and laughter to his future family! The online adoption listing websites require that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.April 5, 2025, 6:13 pm

Story
Radar is being fostered in PA. He has some vision, possibly shadows. Radar is the sweetest snugglebug with an intrinsically calm demeanor. He loves to be with his humans at home and is always up for meeting new people and dogs in the neighborhood. He LOVES going on walks and being outside. He gets very excited when he finds out a walk is happening and jumps up and down! Playing with toys is a favorite activity, second only to laying on the couch with his humans, getting headrubs. He sleeps in bed with his foster family but is also very content being in his bed. Radar can see some shadows and light but is mostly blind. He has no trouble getting around or navigating stairs. Radar is a gentle and loving soul. He would make a joyful addition to any home. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
About Me: Name: Newt Breed (or best guess): Border Collie/Farm Dog type Approximate Age: 1 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: around 30 lb Dec 2024 Adoption Fee: $495 (Reduced to $250 for National Pet Day) Requirements: Loving and patient family Why In Rescue: Owner/farm breeder surrender   Newt came to us as a puppy and is now almost a year old.  We don't know why he is being overlooked other than he doesn't look like a border collie.  His brothers were adopted, the adults he came in with him were adopted, and he is still looking for a home.  He does need a home without cats and small dogs as he has some prey drive where he wants to chase and grab at them.  He does play with larger dogs, but sometimes gets annoying to them as well!  He is very playful and loving, although he can be shy when he meets new people.  He has lived in the shelter since he was 4 months old and now almost a year old.  Are you the one to give this great guy a chance at a home instead of life in the shelter. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS April 11, 2025, 8:49 pm

Story
***** Angelina has been with us longer than we would like so she is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and her adoption fee has been sponsored in full by a generous donor. *****Why, yes, I AM beautiful like a Hollywood starlet. Thank you! I’m Angelina, and I’m pleased to meet you! Aside from being easy on the eyes, I’m also easy on the heart because I’m a major love bug! I sure do love my people, although sometimes it takes a bit for me to warm up and make you my own. I would do best in a home with a fenced in yard because walking on the leash can be hard for me sometimes- I don`t love seeing other dogs and I love seeing critters too much, and I would like to have outside time that doesn`t have to be stressful for me. I would also prefer to be the only animal in my future home, I want all of your love for myself! I love older kids and adult humans (small kiddos can be a little scary sometimes), so I would prefer a home without any small kids to keep me as comfortable as possible. I just need a family who goes at the same speed as me! I promise to fill your life with all the love and cuddles you need! I`m smart and treat motivated, already house-trained, and won`t destroy items if you leave me loose when you leave the house. I’d love for us to meet, so come on in! Please just ask at the Adoption Center to meet me, because I have my own private room at the shelter where the public can`t see me. Love, AngelinaMy adoption includes a four-week scholarship for a virtual training program through GoodPup, so be sure to ask your counselor about this when you meet me! Medical History: Angelina is a healthy senior, but it`s always a good idea to schedule an appointment with your future vet soon after adoption so they can get to know each other!Weight: 37 lbsRestrictions: No other animals in home, No small children. Must have fenced yard.If you`d like to meet me, click the `Learn About the Adoption Process` button below to plan a visit to the shelter!
