Story
"Well hello there! I am Zenia, aka Zenny, and I am so happy to meet you! I am about 4-5 years old. I'm a female Boston Terrier. I was a farm dog before I came to Zoe's House Rescue. I lived outside with two other female bostons and one male, and I got beat up by them. I have scars on my ears, legs, neck, and belly from their bullying. Even after that, I love other dogs! I am good pals with the other dogs in my foster home. I love to run around with them and then we all like to gather around the heater in the living room to warm up. I am a social dog who loves meeting new people! My favorite thing to do is cuddle. I LOVE TOYS!! I like soft toys, squeaky toys, crinkly toys, chew toys...also balls, sticks, and bones! I typically do not have potty accidents in the house, but accidents are normal during the transition to a new home. I am crate trained and I LOVE my bed in my crate. My foster family always gives me a treat when I need to go in my crate, and I go right in. I am usually quiet in my crate, unless I hear someone outside. I am a happy, silly girl who loves to play and cuddle. My foster parents say I am perfect. My foster dad always says that anyone who doesn't like me, must not like dogs!" Zenia came into the rescue with two Mast Cell tumors. One was able to be removed with clear margins, the other was more complicated and affected the muscle in her leg. To give her the best long term quality of life, her left rear leg had to be amputated. She is now cancer free! However, in the future if any lumps or bumps develop on her body, they should immediately be evaluated by a veterinarian. Full medical records will be available to her adopters. Zenia is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to her foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take her home. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. Story
Hello, I'm Devon! I'm a 7 year old female Boston Terrier. I'm a retired mama who is looking forward to her next chapter! I had a hard time adjusting to life in a home at first. Everything was new and scary. My foster mom has been very gentle and patient with me. I've learned to enjoy toys and chewy treats. I'm always carrying a toy around! I love to snuggle up with my foster pup siblings. If someone is in a cozy spot, I will wiggle my way in right next to them! I need another dog in my life, someone who is confident and clam, and can be my BFF. I will be looking for a forever home with at least one dog friend. I'm also good with cats and small animals. I currently live in a big family with my foster mom, dogs, cats, and rabbits. Since I've been in foster care, I've been learning to trust people. It is hard for me to overcome my fear of newcomers. I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes and I hate it when she leaves the room without me! I do alright when she leaves the house, but if she's home, I want to be with her! I would love to find a forever home where my person will be home most of the time. I am crate trained and go right in for a treat. I don't like leash walking. I've been working on it, but I prefer to be carried if I have to be away from home. I'm no explorer... I just want to be a couch potato, and stay safely inside. Due to my resistance to leash walking and nervous tendencies, I will need a securely fenced yard for potty time. I initially struggled with potty training, but now I'm doing great. I will need some patience while I adjust to a new schedule in my forever home, but I know I can do it! I really hope I can find a gentle, kind, patient forever family! I have a lot of love to give and I become strongly attached if I'm given the time to bond. Devon is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to her foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take her home. Devon is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and has been routinely treated with parasite preventatives. Devon has a stress induced heart murmur. When she is calm it is not detectible, but if she becomes very afraid or upset it may be present. It is not anticipated to be a threat to her health. Two vets have evaluated her and it was not present during their exams, however it was noted at her initial intake exam. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. Kennel license 9117 PO box 2372 Reading pa 19608

Story
Age: 11 months Size: 35 lbs Estimated breed: Boston Terrier/Cattle Dog mix (among many other breeds, according to her DNA results!) Lives with: Dogs, one very dog-savvy cat. She prefers a home with no kids or cats/small animals   Lucy is an 10-month old Boston terrier mix, whose personality far outweighs her size. She came to live with us when she was just a few weeks old after being rescued in Texas. In the time Lucy has been with us, we have watched her grow into herself. And what a character she has become!    Lucy lives with two other canine friends and a cat. Her and the cat have a mutual understanding. They are not exactly friends, but they respect each other's privacy (for the most part). As far as her canine siblings, Lucy has a strong bond with our Bernese Mountain mix (Sammy).    Sammy and Lucy have been friends since the start. It's quite the combination with Lucy being all of maybe 30 lbs to Sammy's 90 lbs. Rough play is the order of the day, with Lucy regularly ending up airborne after Sammy decides he's had enough and tosses her out of the way. Lucy, not one to give up easily, comes back for more and more. This cycle continues until Lucy tires out and heads to her crate or the couch to rest.   Speaking of crates, Lucy is crate trained and does very will with in. In fact, she usually goes in on her own when she wants alone time, or when we get ready to wind down our evening. Lucy is also excellent with being house broken and accidents are few if any in recent months.   Lucy is very independent and thinks she's a BIG dog. She is a bit headstrong with leash training, and also has a very active prey drive. If Lucy sees a squirrel or other small critter, she gets pretty excited and it is tough to break her focus.    Lucy would do best in a home with another large canine companion and a fenced yard. She loves her big brother Sammy and often cuddles with him when they tire out after their backyard wrestling matches. She looks to him constantly for entertainment, reducing some of the burden on us.   We are proud of the young lady Lucy has become. If you are looking for a smaller dog with the heart of a big dog and have the time to work with her, Lucy would love to meet you!   To adopt Lucy, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our animals. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366 March 27, 2025, 12:28 pm

Story
Bandit, came to us along with Buddy and Hershey because their owner had stage 4 lung cancer and could no longer care for them. She's super scared and sweet and you just want to help her. The man kept these dogs in crates for seven years. Everything is over stimulation for her. Overall she’s doing very well considering her entire world has been erased and there's so much around new to get used to. She is very very sweet. I believe she’s half bull dog—she has the bull dog snort. She weighs 38 lbs. She lived with other dogs in her life ---both males and females and she lived another male and a cat in her foster home. At first she wasn’t overly friendly with the dogs here but has adjusted after a slow introduction. Bandit is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. She is also housetrained. She is also missing one eye, which causes her no problem. If interested in Bandit contact applications@boxertransfer.org

We have sat down with the staff and told them we would like a fenced yard when we are adopted :)  2nd Chance has promised we will not go to a one dog household we want another small dog to play with if we can't stay together!
