Story
Meeko came to us after his best human friend had to move into a care home. This gentle giant has been a wonderful companion to his first human for most of his life and deserves to find a home that will treat him as well as the first one did. There may have been too many treats involved in his previous life so a weight loss plan, coordinated with your vet, would be highly recommended for this otherwise healthy senior dog.He is lovely on walks and still shows some puppy exuberance when playing with other dogs.If you feel that you would be able to provide a warm and welcoming home for Meeko's twilight years, please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet him. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.dogs:https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/Our visiting hours are:Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 12-5Thursday, Public Holidays: closedSaturday, Sunday: 12-4 Primary Color: Brindle Weight: 58 Age: 14yrs 0mths 2wks

Story
Hola! My name is GABO and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Boxer Mix Age: About 8 years Gender: Male Weight: 50 lbs (23 kg) Height: 71 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 82 cm (head to butt) Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - When I was just a puppy (about 8 months old) my "owners" abandoned me on a high-traffic main road; a place where dogs are often dropped by people wanting to get rid of us for good. I was so skinny and scared! Luckily, I was rescued by some wonderful hoomans, who took me to the shelter. I have been a good boy living in the shelter for the last EIGHT YEARS! I really hope that I can find my furever home soon! TEMPERAMENT - I am a happy, playful and well-behaved boy. I am very sweet and friendly with humans and dogs alike and I LOVE to go for walkies! I love to eat pretty well anything - but my favourite foods are sausages, tortillas, bread and carrots! I am so excited to snuggle and play with my new family! Here are some videos of me getting pets! video video 2 ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I am a sweet and well-behaved boy who loves attention, playing and walkies! Here are some videos of me on a walk! walk 1 walk 2 walk 3 walk 4 walk 5. Here I am playing with my ball and another of me and my ball. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – Yes - I get along well with other dogs in my shelter and that I meet on walks. Cats – Unknown. PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. I have been working on my leash skills, but I don't pull! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Gabo Meets other Dogs House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted, particularly dogs who have lived for long periods at the shelter. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including taxes (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live. WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##1886007##

Story
Hi my name is Bronx and I am a handsome but pretty shy guy. I need some time to warm up to people and to trust that you won't hurt me. i have had a hard past and wasn't treated so well so I'm pretty scared of most people right now. I would never hurt anyone but I will definitely run away if you come on too strong. I have made a couple of human friends in these nice girls that work at the shelter and have shown them how sweet and gentle I am now that I know they won't hit me. It may take me some to warm up to you but I promise to be a good boy if you treat me with kindness. I'm sorry, I think I am too scared to be around children but maybe older teenagers would be ok. I do love other dogs though and enjoy playing with my many doggie friends here at the shelter. I don't want to fetch or chase anything, the girls say I have low prey drive, whatever that is. I might even be ok with cats but they don't have any here for me to visit with so I can't say for sure. What I need is to get out of the shelter and into a home where I can feel safe and be petted and loved and lay in a nice dog bed. I walk very nicely on a leash and I don't react to anything. But I don't want strangers trying to pet me, it's a scary thing for me and it makes me want to retreat. Can you be my forever home? I need someone that can promise to keep me safe. I am neutered and am up to date on my shots. I was recently in a foster home for several weeks and am housebroken and very respectful in the home. I am not ok to live in a busy environment or an apartment complex. It is too loud and I am scared of the noises. I would love a quiet, detached, adult only home with another dog to keep me company and to help me overcome my worries. At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption. This ensures that both the new owner and the adoptable animal are well suited to each other. Adoption Fee $374 Includes: -Spay/Neuter -First set of shots -One vet visit -Microchip -Bag of food If you live in Vancouver, you will also need to buy a dog license.

Story
Meet Mick, a smart, affectionate dog looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention. He would thrive as the only pet in the household, though he gets along well with dogs outside of the home. Mick has some separation anxiety, so he needs a patient and understanding guardian who can help him with slow departure exercises as he adjusts to his new environment.Mick is comfortable with teenagers but would do best in a home without young children. He enjoys outdoor activities, particularly running around in the yard playing fetch, and he's a joy to walk on a leash. At the end of the day, Mick loves nothing more than cuddling up on the couch with his people. His eagerness to please and his intelligence make him an incredibly rewarding companion for someone willing to invest in his emotional well-being and training. If you're looking for a loyal and loving dog to share your home with, Mick could be the perfect fit for you! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet Mick. Story
Lexie came to us when the previous guardian had to move and could not take her with. This lady is a true sweetheart and, despite her size, believes she is a lap dog. She is calm around other dogs but we are not sure if she actually enjoys them or needs them in her life. Her new home will have to be committed to working with a vet on her weight loss journey. Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me.
