Story
Looks like: Great Dane, Pittie mix Male, 7 years old (estimated), 73 pounds This beautiful boy is more than just the looker that you see -- he's 100% love bug! Meet Harley! He's bound to be your best friend immediately upon meeting him. He is very sociable and loves to be around people and kids. He is a quiet keeper but lets out words of enthusiasm when you get home or you leave on an exciting adventure! Harley doesn't realize his true size and would be a lap dog if he could! Harley is eager to move into a home that can give him loads of attention and take him for some fun adventures. This incredibly smart lad knows his basic commands, he loves to show off his 'shake' command, he walks well on leash, and he is even crate trained. Harley is a graduate of the Unchained program, where at risk youth work with dogs on their training. Harley does great with other dogs and even cats, but people are his favorite company. He's a gentle giant with tons of love to share with his next family! He's truly one in a million! Harley joined us as a guardian surrender after his former family became unable to care for him.

Story
WOOF! I'M RILEY! I'm a 3-year-old cute Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home. I have dark eyes and it looks like I wear shades! I was recently rescued from a California shelter where I was pretty terrified - I sat in the back and looked at people as they walked by. But now I'm coming out of my shell. I have done great with other dogs so far and am quickly adjusting to be a happy boy. I weigh about 50-55 lbs. Can you foster or adopt me? Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Spike, the senior brindle boxer boy! Staff have observed that has been social and easy going since his arrival – even giving kisses, if you’re so lucky! His previous guardians reported he enjoyed his walks out on the town and meeting dog friends out in the world. At the Shelter, Spike has made quite a few girlfriends – standing still with his tail wagging and then a sudden big playbow! From March 10th to March 17th, this dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $50 during the Get Lucky Adoption Special. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Ruby 💎 Ruby is an extremely sweet and loving girl. She loves her people so deeply and isn’t biased on who gets her love! A giant bucket of pure joy! She loves to chew her toys! Also has the endurance for short walks and loves to explore new things to sniff! But she takes a strong arm as she is learning to not pull still. Continuing training with her is ideal as she has some catching up to do! With proper introductions- she happily lives with dogs! She does get overwhelmed with young children so we think it’s best that kids are older. She is crate trained, potty trained and knows basic commands. The parts we know of her past is heartbreaking! She was rescued from the kill list at Devour Animal Shelter. She was obviously used as a breeder dog who had many litters with the c section scars to prove it! Her back leg muscles were weak and she had urine burns which means she didn’t get time out of a crate besides being bred. Due to her past, she takes time to trust that other dogs are her friends. Ruby has been vaccinated, microchipped and fixed! She is ready for her new home! Ruby is about 5 years old.
