Story
Meet Auggie Auggie is a handsome 10-month-old puppy. We rescued him from a high-kill shelter due to over-crowding. Auggie is a gem and so deserves a second chance. He is thought to be a Boxer/black mouth cur mix. He has beautiful manners. Auggie is house-trained, he walks easily and beautifully on a leash, he loves car rides and relaxes into the journey, just watching the world go by. Auggie loves everyone he meets. He’d do well with kids. He’s non-reactive and goes along to get along. He went to a recent fundraiser and charmed everyone there. He has a quiet confidence, making him easy going and gentle. Auggie likes dogs and we will test for kitties. Auggie is a nice size at 34 lbs. He may grow a little bit but shouldn’t get too big. He has a gorgeous cream colored short haired coat, with a black muzzle(black mouth cur) and intelligent, deep brown eyes. Auggie is one of those dogs who will be terrific going with you on hikes or running, taking a stroll through the neighborhood, going to lunch at a streetside café or spending a day hanging out at a winery. He would love to be where you are doing all sorts of fun and adventurous things. Auggie is pretty quiet and happily goes about his business. It’s hard to believe that someone would let a dog like Auggie end up at a kill-shelter, but those at the shelter saw what a great dog his is and brought him to our attention to rescue. Now we’re searching for the pawfect home for him. Might that be your home? If interested in Auggie, please submit a dog application found online at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org Please call our shelter at 706-865-4135 or email us (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

Story
Jackson is a handsome 7-year-old boy and weighs 80-ish lbs. Because he is a larger love bug who doesn't know his size, he would do best in a home with teenage children. Although Jackson is deaf, he is VERY trainable and has responded well to learning hand signals with his foster mom. He has laser focus whenever his toys or treats are involved. He is very snuggly-and likes to think he's a lap dog, despite his size! Jackson is potty trained, neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that all of your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter, and are a foster-home based organization. Other than meeting our babies at events, we do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a homecheck prior to adoption.

Story
Meet Queenie, a charming 8 year-5-month-old dog with a heart full of love and affection. Queenie is currently available for adoption and is seeking a special home where she can be the center of attention as the only dog. Queenie's story is one of unwavering loyalty and the deep bond she forms with her human companions. She may be 8 years old, but her heart is as young and vibrant as ever, and she has so much love left to give. In a one-dog household, Queenie's love and loyalty will shine, making her the ultimate furry friend. While Queenie's preference for being the only dog might require some adjustment, it's a small price to pay for the unconditional love and devotion she'll offer in return. She enjoys leisurely walks, playtime, and lounging with her human, creating a deep and meaningful connection that is truly special. With her mature age, Queenie is well past the energetic puppy stage, which means she's a calm and well-mannered companion. She's house-trained and has mastered the art of being the perfect companion. Queenie's ideal home is one where she can be the sole recipient of love and attention, a home where she can live out her golden years in comfort and happiness. Don't miss this chance to welcome Queenie into your home and heart, and experience the true meaning of unconditional love. If you are interested in meeting Queenie, please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Our adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 and Friday and Saturday from 1-5. With all my love and kisses, Queenie!

Story
Meet Emilee! A one year old Boxer/Bulldog mix who has never met a stranger! Her whole body wiggles with excitement when a person or another dog glances her way. This 45 lb girl is super friendly, sweet and loves attention. Emilee is always up for an adventure whether it be a trip to Home Depot, a boat ride on the lake, or a long walk exploring the great outdoors! She rides well in a car and will go with you wherever you go! Emilee gets along great with other dogs and does well with cats. Her favorite activities include chasing balls, chewing on bones, playing with squeaky toys, and lastly -- cuddling on the couch after a fun filled day. Emilee is crated trained and house trained. She knows some basic commands and is working hard to learn more (she’s food motivated!) Emilee will do best in home with a fenced in yard and a family with an active lifestyle.
