Story
Squeak was left behind at the vet clinic by an owner who brought her in for injuries then never came back to get her.  Squeak is a boxer pitbull mix puppy who is super playful and would love room to run and play and burn off energy.   Here's hoping we can find her a forever home.Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   August 7, 2024, 12:15 am

Story
These sweet pups were part of an unplanned litter. Their mom was a boxer and their dad was an unknown stray. After their owners found homes for five out of the eleven pups, these guys ended up at the shelter. They’re around 3 months old and ranged in weights from just over 10 to just over 16 pounds when they came in at 10 weeks old. They’re friendly pups who have been dewormed, treated for fleas, and vaccinated with Distemper and Bordatella. There are two males and one female, and they are all ready to grow up in their forever homes.

Story
Momo!      DOB: 2/2018       Weight: 70 lbs   MoMo is a very handsome Boxer mix! He is great with people and kids. Always super excited to see you and turns into a crazy wiggle butt. However, Momo prefers to be the only child. Doesn’t care much for cats or other dogs. Walks around them fine, but will pick a fight if they get too close. He loves to ride in the car and has a medium energy level. Likes to get out for walks and sniff around. Knows how to sit and will take handouts nicely. No resource guarding issues. He’s very sweet. Could use a good food schedule and some more exercise. Momo has lived in a house for the past two years and is used to the house life. He is house and crate trained of course.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Came to the shelter in 2/2020 and was adopted for awhile. Returned 12/2022.***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? CONTACT pcpoundpuppies1@gmail.com Our standard adoption fee is $175 ($250 for puppies 6 months and under, or small dogs 20lbs or below) which covers a portion of the dog's vetting costs. The adoption process includes the completion of an application followed by an interview. Click here to submit an adoption application:

Story
Hey there, I'm Clover, the sweet and affectionate Pit mix searching for my forever home! At 2 years old, I've got plenty of love to give and I'm ready to find a family who will cherish me. Now, let's address the not-so-great stuff first - I can be a bit nervous, especially in new situations. Yep, it's true, change can be a little scary for me at first. But hey, who can blame me? With some patience and understanding, I know I'll gain confidence and show you just how loving and loyal I can be. On the bright side, I'm a very sweet girl who gets along great with cats and dogs! Yep, it's true, I'm a social butterfly who loves nothing more than making new furry friends. Whether we're playing in the yard or cuddling up on the couch, I'll always be by your side, ready for some fun and companionship. Sure, I may not have been around kids before, but who's to say we won't get along famously? With some proper introduction and socialization, I know I can adapt to any situation. Plus, I'm a quick learner who's eager to please. Oh, and speaking of walks, I've got plenty of energy to burn! Yep, it's true, I love exploring the great outdoors and sniffing out all the interesting scents. Sure, I may pull a bit on the leash, but with some positive reinforcement training, I know I can become the perfect walking companion. So, if you're looking for a loving and social companion to join you on all of life's adventures, look no further than me, Clover! With a little love and patience, I know we'll make the pawfect pair. Let's make some unforgettable memories together - I can't wait to meet you!
