Story
ROMEO is a 2 year old male, boxer mix. He adopted out as a puppy and was returned when his energy level was underestimated. ROMEO just loves life and everything in it! He is super excited to meet people. And if you look close, he's got a cute, little underbite. We put him through our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program to help "manage" his enthusiasm a little. He can perform all basic obedience tasks if you allow a bit of wiggle and waggle in between. He gets along great with other dogs. He will do best in an adult home with older children. He's not that big at 45 lbs but he might overpower smaller children. He would greatly benefit from a fenced yard. There is nothing like a game of fetch to burn off the energy. ROMEO's ADOPTION FEES ARE WAIVED! If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Romeo's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach. Thank you!

Story
OSCAR is a 7 year old male boxer/hound mix. He currently weighs 52 lbs. Like so many others this year, he was found wandering alone. A kind person took him in to keep him safe. They fostered him for 6 weeks before handing him off to Adopt Me! This gave us valuable information on Oscar. He co-existed nicely with two other dogs and their children. He was left free in the house and never destroyed anything. He came housetrained. All this adds up to - he was someone's pet before being dumped. In order to find out every little quirk, we enrolled OSCAR in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Like the other dogs in the program, he thoroughly enjoys the one on one attention he gets from his inmate. He is learning his obedience quickly. As for his social skills, he's doing well there too. For his age, he still has plenty of pep. He has a beautiful brindle coat and a bit of graying around his muzzle. Just enough to make him look distinguished. He is not fond of cats and and with proper introductions, and the right canine companion, he'd do okay with other dogs. Oscar's best fit will be in a quiet, adult home. He must have a fenced yard as Oscar has a tendency to chase if he sees movement. Older children would be fine. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Oscar's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach. Thank you

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Kanga is sweet as can be, crate trained, working on house training & commands. She also might be a little spoiled by her foster family. Miss Kanga adores everyone. She has the cutest floppy ears & underbite!Kanga & her littermates were dumped on the side of the road. They were found malnourished with Demodex mange & also had respiratory infections. We were able to find five fosters to save this litter. (Eeyore's foster sent in a DNA test. The results are in the photos!) Adopt this girl!   CARE's adoption fee is $250 for dogs/puppies and $100 for cats/kittens and an additional $150 neuter deposit will be required for any animals adopted prior to their spay/neuter surgery (and the deposit will be refunded when the approved adopter brings the animal to his/her CARE vet appointment in COLUMBUS, INDIANA once scheduled). All CARE animals arrive in their forever homes current on age appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, as well as microchipped and spay/neutered (or scheduled for the same).   CARE is an all-volunteer and foster-based rescue organization. We do not have a shelter facility and do not have any employees monitoring inbound applications and emails. Applications are reviewed by each animal’s volunteer foster home. It may be several days before you hear from this animal’s foster home. Thank you for your patience and understanding as our foster volunteers work to navigate a very high volume of inbound adoption applications.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 9:35 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Brianna (Brianna7crum@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › Meela is a wonderful joy to have. She's fully potty trained, crate trained, great with other dogs, great with cats, great with farm animals such as chickens and goats. Overall she is a quiet, calm girl who can be shy at times (submissive around other dogs). She did have a dislocated hip that was fixed with an FHO surgery. Her other hip is fractured and healing well on its own. She gets around great and is happy to live her life. She likes to hold her stuffies in her mouth and lay in her crate with the door open or on a dog bed.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 9:35 am

Story
I adopted Roo from KHS. I was originally fostering him for his severe anxiety due to being very abused as a young puppy, but I was a foster fail. Unfortunately, his severe anxiety has not gone away completely and he is still afraid of pretty much everyone except for me, but he is starting to warm up to people in my life as well. He is afraid to go outside when there are people around, so he is house trained but also puppy pad trained. He needs to be worked with. He loves to sleep under the blankets with you, and is content with just a toy and/or a bone to chew on. He is a pretty laid back dog with semi low energy levels, as long as he has some play time during the day, he is content. He is one of the best dogs I ever met and just needs someone to work with and love him. Me getting rid of him is due to no fault of his own, just an unfortunate living situation for me. I want nothing more than a lifetime of love for Roo.
