If the dog had additional medical issues, those have also been addressed. Visit our website www.waldosmuttleycrew.org for more information and to complete an application. BRANDY!!!! She's a fine girl!!!! What a good pet she will be!!! She's a 5-6 year old boxer/lab/pit bull mix, weighing about 65 lbs, who's Mom ended up in a nursing home. Brandy's mom had no friends or family so Brandy was her mom's only loving companion for 5-6 years. It was devastating for her Mom to be forced to relinquish Brandy, obviously. And traumatic for Brandy as well. Thankfully, Brandy, despite having never been around dogs, has shown that she absolutely loves playing chase and doing zoomies with her foster dogs. She can play a bit rough because she sure doesn't her age! Brandy still has quite a bit of energy and acts more like a 2-3 year old dog. She does have some separation anxiety due to the trauma of being taken from her Mom and also due to the fact that her Mom was with her 24/7 . She doesn't tear anything up when her foster mom leaves but wouldn't be happy left alone 9-10 hours a day. Brandy deserves the MOST PERFECT HOME!! Don't you agree?? The ideal home for BRANDY will be one with a large 5 foot tall or greater fenced in yard, a 40 lb or great playful dog, and where is someone is home the majority of the time. Brandy is a HUGE talker and expresses her opinion quite often! It's so often! She vocalizes when she wants attention, when she wants to go outside and when she wants to play. And she is so loving & affectionate! What a fabulous personality this sweetheart has!!! Brandy's adoption fee is $225; she is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped as well as kept on monthly heartworm/flea preventative.

Story
Han Solo is a 2 ½ year old, 62.7 pound, APBT mix. He is a very happy and friendly boy that has been excited to meet everybody. He is very active, and he enjoys a variety of toys. Han Solo's favorite game seems to be fetch, but he also enjoys tossing his toys around on his own. Han Solo does get very engaged in his play, so he will need a home that is ready to prioritize both his physical and mental needs. This sweet boy accidentally got out along with another dog while staff was cleaning up the kennels for the day. Unfortunately, the other dog that got out attacked Han Solo. Han did his best to stay away from the other dog, and he did not contribute to the fight and only tried to defended himself. Both dogs were safely separated, and no one got seriously injured! We do not know for sure how this will affect him with future dogs he meets, but so far he seems to be okay with others. Of course, a meet and greet will be required if there are any current dogs in the home! We do not know how Han Solo will do with other animals or children. Even after everything he has been through, he remains a very happy boy. Overall, Han Solo is a very playful and goofy boy that is looking for a fresh start in life! He knows his special family is out there somewhere, and he cannot wait to meet you!We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@co.johnson.in.us for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
If you've never considered having a dog because you work during the day, Cheerio may be the dog for you! Cheerio was rescued from the Clayton County Animal Control facility in Georgia where he was on the euthanasia list, and has been in foster since the beginning of June 2023. He is a beautiful gray-brown guy (think Weimaraner color), on the small side (less than 40 lbs), with a long body and short legs, estimated to be about 2 years old, microchipped, neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm/flea/tick preventative. DNA says he is mostly a mix of American Pit Bull Terrier, Rat Terrier and Chihuahua! When he first arrived he was very suspicious of people and would actually snap at a hand reaching back past his head, especially when he was in his crate, making it difficult to get him out to potty. As a matter of fact, the information that came with him stated he had bitten someone at the vet's office where he was taken after rescue. He has come a long way since then and is a generally happy boy, tolerant of being handled (except by a vet wielding a syringe!), and quite the snuggle bug, wanting to be a lap dog. He has met several new dogs while in foster and does fine with slow introductions. He also did beautifully at an adoption event where he was fine with being petted by adults and children alike. The biggest issue with Cheerio was his intense dislike of cats. Because his foster home has two resident cats, he had to spend a lot of time in his crate, only being allowed out when the cats were safely shut in another room, so he got very used to being crated. Eventually, he became used to them and was allowed out of his crate most of the time except for overnight, feeding and when home alone. Unfortunately, he has decided he hates one of the resident dogs and they have to be kept separated, so he is back to being in his crate most of the time. The positive of all this is that he would likely be a good fit for someone who works all day, possibly living in an apartment, since he is used to spending a lot of time in a crate. In his foster home he is taken on two long walks (between 3/4 -1 mile) a day; the first is an off-leash walk in the morning and a leash walk in the evening, with several trips (not walks) out-to-potty during the day. He is reliable off-leash in the yard and will come when called to go in. He should do fine living with someone on a work schedule. If you're away from home during the day, all of his crating experience here will serve you both well since he's used to it! Cheerio is basically a very good boy and he will most likely be just as good a buddy for an adopter if you give him slow introductions and plenty of time and space to gain his trust. Fostered in Fort Wayne.

Story
This handsome boy is Dixon! Dixon is a 1 ½ year old, 70 pound, APBT mix. He has been a happy, friendly, and playful boy since his arrival here at the shelter. He knows no stranger and is happy to be involved in whatever his people are doing. Dixon has shown some interest in toys, but he hasn't quite found his favorite yet. He's hoping his new family will have lots of fun toys and time to play with him! We do not know for sure how he will do with other animals or children.
