He is a senior guy looking for a home to spend out the later years of his life with all the comforts that a loving home will provide. Chicken still has a good amount of energy, but at the end of the day, he would simply prefer to curl up in your favorite chair, if you will let him, or a plush dog bed. One of our amazing volunteers was curious about Nala's breeds, so she ordered a DNA test...we now know that Nala is: 53.4% Boxer + 27.2% American Bully + 19.4% American Pit Bull Terrier! Talk about three amazing breeds combined to make one 100% good girl! And, oh yeah! Her adoption fee is sponsored to an approved applicant! She is always so wiggly. You would've never guessed she came to us starving and scared. Let's not forget that she has the BEST smile and she is always cheesing so hard that she squints! She is so very sweet and is always so excited to come out and play! We like to describe Nala as an independent gal but also very loyal to people. She would do fine as the only dog but also has done well with other playful pups. Nala has done well with kiddos about 8ish and up. She loves car rides and is always looking out the window. She's such a sweetheart. Nala's ideal family would be one where she can join them for daily walks. She would also love to play fetch with tennis balls because that makes her so happy! She is the best fetcher ever! She also loves sniffing through snufflemats. Nala is a treat-motivated gal! Oh, and another amazing thing about her is that she takes treats so gently. She is about six and a half years old and is spayed.

The 3 best things about Benji... 1. He is a "cream puff" in the words of MHS Volunteer Mitzi. He is a big dude but he is so gentle! In fact, there isn't a dog in the shelter who takes treats more gently than Benji does. 2. Benji has had someone put a lot of time into him. His manners are awesome. He knows how to sit, stay, come, lay down, shake with both paws, take treats so respectfully, and he walks very nicely on a leash. 3. He is so well-balanced! Benji is playful and silly but also will lay down calmly and be content to just chill. Kiddos should be about 9ish and older, and he's had positive body language towards other friendly shelter dogs. Benji boy is a professional goofball. He is a little over four years old and is neutered.

Leo is a 4 yr old terrier mix. He weighs 88 lbs and is full of love and kisses. He was returned to us from being adopted as a puppy. After living with a cat for 9 months, he decided he no longer liked the cat and has become dog selective. Leo is smart and listens very well. He is house trained and doesn't need a crate. Does good riding in the car. Leo needs to get all the love and prefers home with no other animals. Older kids would also be best as he doesn't know how big he really is. Leo is slow to warm up, but with a little patience , he's all yours. An experienced dog owner is required. Please give this big guy a chance. He's a good boy just waiting for his forever home. She is house trained and crate trained. She can also be left out in the house. She loves people and kids, but can be excitable and jump up. She would do best as an only dog in the home. She can be fine with other dogs, but will turn on them if they growl at her. She is fine with cats, but is allergic to them and would need an allergy shot every few months. She will pull on the leash, but can he corrected if you are firm with her. She has a high prey drive and will bark/ chase squirrels. However, she has been fine with rodents in the home such as ferrets. She has a hound dog- like howl sometimes.

I’m Snow. I’m 7 years and 47 pounds. What a better way to start a post, with a dog named Snow for the first snowfall. I came in to the shelter running loose. My owner stated that he could not reclaim me. I was found running in the park, with another dog. My real name is Snow and I do know it very well. I get along with dogs, but I do not like to share my space with cats. I love to roll on my back for belly rubs. I would do best with older children. I do like to jump up and give hugs. I like to lay and play in the mud (hence my face). I am a big fan of dog treats, and I am doing great with potty training. Words from our volunteers: We love spending volunteer time with Snow. He always has a smile on his face when he goes for walks and has play time. He really eats up the attention. He loves to be with people. He so deserves a loving home.
