Hope is a very sweet five year old dog from KC Pet Project. She’s incredibly loving and loyal to her owner. She loves snuggling, and thinks she’s a lap dog sometimes! She’ll follow you anywhere and prefers being close to the human she loves. Hope has a lot of energy sometimes, and likes to go for walks or play tug-o-war. She enjoys puzzle games and feeders and learning new tricks. Hope can be a resource guarder and a little on edge when she is afraid, so she needs an owner who is patient and willing to consistently work with her. Hope gets along with her brother, a larger breed who is a few years older…but she has not been getting along with a new step-sister (hence the reason she is looking for a new home.) She would probably do best in a home where she is the only pet and will not have to compete for attention or resources. Hope has never been around children. It would be best for her to find a home with one or two owners who can be home with her a lot of the time.

Ada is a lovely brindle pup who was born on 12/15/2024. The litter of 9 came to us when the mama dog stopped feeding them. Our fosters took over and they have thrived in their foster homes! Mom is an American Bulldog and a picture of her is included. We don't know who dad is. Based on this the pups should be around 60 to 80 pounds when grown. About the breed: American Bulldogs are a well-balanced athletic dog that demonstrate great strength, endurance, agility, and a friendly attitude. These dogs have a clown-like personality. As family dogs, they do well with kids and babies. All Heart of America dogs are altered, micro chipped and will have age-appropriate vaccines. The adoption cost is $225.

He is a happy go lucky sort of boy, but can be protective of his people.  Baxter is fine with some dogs and not with others so we would prefer he goes to a home with no other dogs.  When he does play with other dogs he has a rough and rowdy play style that cam be overwhelming to some dogs. The ideal home for Baxter would be a quiet house without a lot of in and out traffic of non family members coming and going, a nice couch or dog bed for him to lounge on, a toy box full of stuffy toys and a privacy fenced back yard.  He is not a dog that requires a lot of exercise so playing in the house with his toys or in the backyard should be fine for him. Duke is a handsome 4.5 year old male boxer mix. This boy is a quick learner, hyper speed. He's already learned the ropes in his foster home and will be an outstanding, loyal companion for his new owner. Duke's prior owner sadly passed away and his family was unable to keep him. He has already learned "go to your room", "crate", and "go eat" at which time he goes over to his bowl for his meal. Amazing! He waits for permission to be invited onto the couch, but his face is so cute there's no way you can tell him no. He loves to give kisses and is a fantastic cuddler. He enjoys exploring the yard but is quick to want to come back to the indoor comforts when he's done with his business. He does well with other dogs of similar size. He has a strong prey drive and should not be around cats or other small animals, including small dogs. He does well with kids. This boy loves a big stuffie toy and will carry it all around with him. Nylabones are a great way to occupy his time and energy and he also likes car rides. He'd be a great running buddy or pet for an active household. Mr. PB, a pocket bully, was abandoned at a shelter in Sacramento California after developing kidney stones. He was rescued by and organization that did his kidney stone surgery and had him spayed. I started fostering him two weeks after his surgery. He is calm and super friendly towards people but reactive towards other dogs. Over 5 weeks, while I was preparing to move to KS, he spent 24/7 time with me receiving unlimited affection. I think that led to him becoming extremely overattached to me. After arriving to Kansas, he showed signs of anxiety and stress towards other family members as he clung to me 24/7. I have no experience training dogs but I started a structured program to gradually have him adapt to the new environment. I am not well equiped skills wise to give him what he needs, and I think he will benefit immensely from a more experienced owner who can better rehabilitate him in a more structured way. When relaxed, he is sweet, cuddly and goofy beyond limits.
