Story
Hooch is a one-of-a-kind pup with a heart of gold. Don't be fooled by his initial "excited pitty wiggles" - this gentle giant instantly calms down and showers you with affection. Kids? Those are his JAM! He LOVES kids! He checks in on them and watches over them in the correct way. He absolutely loves other dogs. Hooch craves the ability to show his humans love and affection He loves his toys, car rides, and even joins in on your stretching routines (with a hilarious head tilt first). Hooch is already potty-trained, knows basic commands, and practices good manners (waiting for his food and walks). He's eager to please and mastering leash walking and recall.

Story
Gianna is an affectionate girl who thrives on being the center of attention. She adores snuggling up to you while receiving treats and affectionate words. Enjoying naps in bed and belly rubs, she's a gentle soul who gets along famously with children and everyone she encounters. Fully trained in both potty habits and crate etiquette, she also responds well to basic commands. Introductions to other dogs require patience, as she's selective about her companions. It's heartening to note her progress in manners and boundaries, a testament to her adaptability and eagerness to learn. While she's been honing her leash skills, she's does best with a prong collar due to her unexpected strength. Gianna strikes a perfect balance between relaxation and adventure, relishing car rides and eagerly accompanying you wherever you go. The adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue's care. We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Holand is the sweetest pup, found wandering alone before being taken in by a kind rescuer in Houston. He loves being by people as much as possible and napping on soft beds and couches is his favorite. He does well in a home with other dogs, though he doesn’t necessarily seek out their companionship. He does have a prey drive and would do best in a home without cats.  Holand is crate trained, but would much rather be left out snoozing on a bed or couch. He is a gentle giant, very calm and good with children. Holand is typically quiet, but does bark when initially kenneled. Due to this, he would do best in a home without shared walls. He is completely potty trained and has had no accidents with his foster. He does love to drink water and needs some bathroom breaks after drinking a lot. He enjoys carrying around soft stuffed toys in his mouth and chewing on bones. Holand just loves people the most and even has a cute little hop when he sees his favorites! This mellow guy doesn’t have separation anxiety, but would thrive in a home with people who are home more often than not. Holand just wants his own people to love him and a comfy spot to snooze in. He would be the perfect calm companion! Holand is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi my name is Rusty Briggs. I am a certified very good boy. I am a pretty mellow guy and love the company of other dogs. I have done well with a wide variety of canine friends and can play a great game of chase and wrestle. I am also content to just coexist. I kennel nicely, but also do well in a room by myself. I love attention. I do have a very sensitive side and can find loud noises and sudden movements a bit scary. I tend to pout when I am anxious. I really want to please people and have the most adorable underbite when I am thinking about things. Come and meet me today! Rusty Briggs is from a local impound. Astro ended up in a small town shelter after his owner abandoned him and his family. At only 6 weeks old he found some angels to help him and since then he has been the best lover boy ever. He has such a goofy personality and he likes to have a routine each day. Astro is the definition of a momma's boy. He is glued to your hip and follows you around all the time. He does sleep in a crate at night and is housetrained. He likes chewing on cheek rolls. He will lay on the couch with you and watch NFL or movies with you. He is just a sweet baby that likes attention and loves squeaky toys. He does like to go places such as the vet and feed store just to meet new people.
