Story
Fun, playful, clownish, and smart--the words that seem to describe Moose. This super cute fella was picked up by the Burlington Police Department and brought to BAS. He`s definitely not a criminal and did nothing wrong, he was just a lost pup who didn`t find his way back home. Moose is at least 5 years old and knows some basic commands. He has a happy and friendly personality, and he`s ready to bring much laughter, happiness, and love to a lucky person or family`s life. Moose did test positive for heartworm but we will be taking care of the treatment, so no worries! Moose is hoping to meet you today, so come visit us soon!Dog Day Out, 8/1/24:We went to Cates Farm Trail and Cedarock Park to visit the goats. We also got a pup cup from Starbucks and played outside. Moose walks well on leash, is treat motivated, and was very relaxed in the car. He did not give me a hard time at all.Dog Day Out, 6/21/24:I took Moose on a nice walk through Willowbrook Arboretum. He walked nicely on a leash. He pulled on the leash a bit but that’s only because he wanted to sniff ALL THE THINGS! Afterwards, we got a pup cup, which he loved. He was a great car traveler, either standing in the back seat to look out the window or lying quietly. He enjoyed hanging out at my house and did not react to my other dog or cats. He took treats gently from my hand and had no accidents in the house. Moose especially loved chewing on his toy and trying to get to the treats hidden inside! If you are looking for a grown, more relaxed dog who enjoys hanging out with his human/s, then Moose is perfect for you!Dog Day Out, 5/4/24:It was a rainy day when Moose had his outing, so we sat under some shade and played with so many toys. We took a stroll around Elon`s campus, and Moose was happy to meet so many new human friends. He spent most of his time chewing on awesome toys, running around, and meeting new friends. Moose was such a sweet boy! He was so friendly with every single person he met, and gave the biggest puppy eyes when

Story
Dean recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "We took Dean on a Dog's Day Out and had the best time today! Dean is cute as a button and has a sweet personality too. Dean visited Petsmart, Ross, and Lowe's with us and was quite well-behaved. Next he enjoyed playtime at Sweetwater Court Private Dog Playground and Gardens! Afterward we had lunch at Freddy's and Dean had a tasty pup cup. We visited my dad and stepmom downtown and Dean had a little stroll through the park. Dean also visited our house briefly before it was time to go back to the shelter. Details about Dean: About 1 year old-he is young but past puppy wildness 43 lbs-easy medium size HW negative - Great walker-doesn't really pull at all - Smart-knows sit and down and I believe he has done shake/paw for others - Treat motivated-this will help with future training - Affectionate-loves to be by your side or in your lap - He played a little with a squeaky toy today but overall prefers just hanging out with people - He would be happy snuggling on a couch with you! He didn't have a high energy level today but that could be partially due to the heat. - Good car rider-jumps in easily and lies down for you to hook/unhook from his seatbelts. Sometimes tries to come into the front seat because he wants to be closer to you. - Slightly shy in new situations/around new people but it doesn't take long for him to warm up to you - He was only in our house for a little bit but had no accidents there or in the stores we visited. I think he would be potty trained quickly as he potties promptly upon going outside. - He has the cutest little Boxer face and his fur seems more like Retriever fur" As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Dean is currently being fostered by Hounds Town Greensboro-Guilford Doggie Daycare and is available for adoption. He can be adopted directly from the facility after an approved application from GCAS has been submitted to us and you've met Dean in person. If you'd like to meet Dean, please contact their facility to set up a time! Phone: 336-308-8444 Address: 123 S Walnut Cir, Greensboro, NC 27409 Email: greensboro-guilford@houndstownusa.com Business Hours: Monday-Friday 6:30 am - 7:30 pm Saturday 9 am - 5 pm Sunday 11 am - 1 pm Important Info: The Houndstown lobby is closed to the public between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday for some disruption-free downtime after a morning of play.

Story
Age: 6 years old (approx) Weight: 50 pounds Adoption Fee: $175 (includes microchip, neuter surgery and vaccinations) Papa is a very friendly medium-sized dog who is sweet and people-oriented. He knows how to SIT, lay down, and SHAKE hands and will even do this with either paw! He is quite playful but also a well-behaved adult dog. He likes car rides and going for puppacinos and frozen yogurt! He loves all people and loves to make new friends! We have also discovered he seems to enjoy wearing hats and sweaters, and he's so photogenic that you cannot help but dress him up for pictures! He's our resident Dog Model who will wear just about anything and has fun too. Got Netflix? He'll binge-watch whatever you're watching with you (we can't guarantee he'll stay awake though!) We have also found that Papa also really likes race tracks! He has been to Virginia International Raceway THREE times and loves all the people and noise.  His ideal home would have no other dogs (cats who know dogs are OK) and no small children/toddlers (he jumps a little bit when he's excited and could knock a little child over without meaning harm). He likes to run around with balls so a fenced yard is required. **************************************************************************** Papa is available for adoption through Spirit Canine Rescue. To adopt Papa, please visit our website http://www.spiritcaninerescue.org/adopt.html for more information and to complete an application. A home visit will be required prior to adoption. We request that all adopters be within reasonable traveling distance to Burlington NC.   * Our only obligation is to the dogs in our program and we reserve the right to determine whether a particular dog and the adopter are the right fit. Remember, just because a dog "looks" like the one you want, that does not necessarily mean that the dog will "behave" like the one you want! Note: We do not adopt out of state!  We do not adopt dogs into homes with invisible /underground fencing! February 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Foster notes, 4/29/24:Tank is a joy to have. He is very loving and when not showing his age (15 years), he acts like a pup when he plays. He plays with his toys on his own or when someone else wants to play tug of war with him. He loves to eat and sleep and loves getting treats. He dislikes other pets and animals in general so this means he would have to be the only pet in the home. Tank loves going on outings and for car rides as well. He does quite well in a car. He is fully housebroken and does very well when walking him on a leash.Foster notes, 1/19/24:Tank has been wonderful to have. My grandmother and I took Tank up to the pet store to get some extra toys and treats for him. He loves to play with his toys and loves to sleep. He is a very loving and sweet dog. Tank is house trained and will let you know he needs to go out by barking and going to the door. He loves treats and enjoys Milkbone Dog Biscuits, Puperoni Sticks, and chew sticks.Enjoys meeting new people, is cuddly and affectionate, walks well on leash (No or low amount of pulling), chases cats/small animals, enjoys car rides, and is potty trained.Foster notes, 12/5/23:Tank is a very loving dog and enjoys being around me and my Grandmother. He enjoys taking over the couch so I might have to get his permission to sit on it! LOL He likes to be the center of attention and loves to be petted and have his rear scratched. Most of the time, he loves to sleep as long as someone is with him. Tank has had one accident but is housetrained. Dog Day Out notes, 11/20/23:I took Tank to get a delicious pup cup at Dunkin Donuts and I took him to Hawfields Park where we walked and played with his ball. He is good with kids we met, enjoyed meeting new people, and he`s loving, affectionate, and good on leash.Dog Day Out notes, 10/2/23:Tank and I roamed around campus for a few hours. We layed out in the sun and in the grass, and met plenty of new friends. We walked around campus and just got to explore and also cuddle on plenty of benches! He enjoyed meeting new people, is loving and affectionate, and is good on leash but pulls a little. Tank didn`t go directly up to other animals, but was intrigued from far away. He never once barked at other animals, just looked at them. Tank was such a sweet boy, he was playful for small amounts of time but also calmed down when needed. He is incredibly sweet, he just wanted to hug and cuddle with every person he saw b
