Story
Dexter needs a home where he’s not left alone a lot. He also needs a lot of exercise if he’s going to be left. He does get separation anxiety. He is a typical boxer, meaning he thinks he’s a lap dog. His temperament is very sweet.

Story
OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Bella likes to have a good time! She’s a lively girl that would like someone to play with toys with her. She’s a strong girl that needs some fine tuning on her leash manners. She knows the sit and shake commands and appears house trained. Although she may chase a cat unless trained not to, she has done pretty well in our dog playgroups at the shelter. She would enjoy a home with an active person or family with respectful children. Medical Note: Bella came in with a case or ringworm on her right thigh. She has been treated with medication for 30 days and it is now no longer contagious. Weighs 67 pounds; $25 to adopt.

Story
REPORTED BY FORMER OWNER:Peggy is an indoor/outdoor dog that is used to being left alone for up to 8 hours per day. She is house trained, walks fairly well on the leash and knows the sit, stay and down commands. She’s friendly toward most people; she may not appreciate any small children running up on her. She has not lived with any children; older, dog-savvy children may be okay. Peggy previously lived with a puppy and they got along well. She’s a very sweet and affectionate dog; she will protect you once she sees you as her owner. OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Peggy is a sweetheart! She will seek out people for attention and loves all that you’ll give! She previously lived with a smaller dog and they got along well. She really likes to be around people and will follow you around if you let her. She is mellow for her age. She could most likely live with another dog again; a meet and greet is recommended. Weighs 46 pounds; $25 to adopt.

Story
Meet Bella, the charming and spirited pup who's sure to steal your heart! With her love for playtime, especially with well-balanced rescue dogs, Bella would happily spend all day frolicking in the yard. This smart girl isn't shy about expressing herself, and while it took her a bit to warm up to us, we know she'll do the same with her new family. Once Bella recognizes you as a friend, she'll shower you with affection like no other. Crate time is a breeze for Bella, though doggy beds don't stand a chance with her playful nature—they quickly become toys to shred! Highly motivated by treats, Bella responds well to training and is quite adept on a leash, although she can get easily distracted. A gentle leader might be the perfect tool to help her focus. Bella prefers the comfort of her own home and will need some encouragement to fully appreciate the joys of a walk. She tends to get anxious around other dogs during these outings, often voicing her excitement a bit too loudly. Remember, no rescue animal is perfect, but Bella's incredible qualities far outweigh her quirks. She's eager and ready to find her forever home with a family who understands and loves her just the way she is. Why should you adopt from a Texas Rescue? Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future from a city that has an animal crisis.  We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wandering our streets.  So many have been dumped and cannot find their way home.  Many never even had a home and were born on the streets.  WE gave them a chance.  Every animal deserves a chance. We know if adopted by you they will be loved and cared for. We believe in our local and out of state applicants.  There is a reason we drive to the Pacific Northwest & East Coast every 2 weeks.  You are worth the drive. We have AMAZING adopters, and we need more like them.  No matter if you live here in Houston, the Pacific Northwest, the East Coast or Canada we welcome you!  Thank you for considering adopting and not shopping.  If we are in Houston, then how can you see our posts?   Spring Branch Rescue has fosters all over the Pacific Northwest allowing us to post in specific cities. Yes, our rescue is in Houston.  Our available animals live with foster families.  This is a win for you as the transition from our home to yours will be a much easier one.  We do have foster homes in your area.  This is why you can see our posts.  Unfortunately Meet & Greets has been cancelled due to Covid Restrictions.  Almost all our animal travel has been adopted.  We have been doing this since 2019 and have been very successful.  Please look at our adopter’s reviews https://greatnonprofits.org/org/spring-branch-rescue ##2149754##

Story
Gus is a sweet, lovable boy who will be your best friend. While he's a little wary of strangers at first, once he gets to know you, he is the sweetest boy. He is well behaved and house trained (able to be left alone for several hours), as well as knowing some basic commands - though he is partially deaf so we use hand signals for them. He is very food motivated, and will be your best friend if you share treats with him. While he has been to boarding before and does fine with the dogs there, he would prefer to be the only pet in the house as he gets attached to his people and he also chases cats. Has done well with older children, but never been around young children/toddlers. He did have pneumonia a few months ago and still has a small cough when he gets too excited or exercises too hard, but it doesn't slow him down.
