Story
If you are a fan of the Bull Terrier breed, we have a handsome tricolored boy named Nacho in our Camp K-9 program. With a breed often described as playful and endearing - and sometimes stubborn - but always devoted, Nacho is a prime example of that. Nacho has learned his basic commands and manners in the Kentucky State Reformatory training program. He loves playing ball and chewing on Nylabones. His handler describes him as "very lovable. Nacho can be dog selective, especially with other male dogs, so if you already have a canine companion, we would need to do a meet and greet with them. Nacho is 4 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He is looking for a home with someone who appreciates his noble looks and personality. Are you the one who might give him a chance?

Story
Hi, friends! The name's Paoli. I'm sure you've heard of my namesake as a town in Indiana - right next to the famous town of Pawnee! Like any Parks and Rec fan, I love to explore nature and watch sitcoms. But when I'm not adventuring, I'm having a "treat yo' self" day and enjoying the finer things in life - such as wet rocks, fetch with humans, and playtime with patient dogs. Sometimes I get a bit excited...but I have a medical condition: it's called "Caring Too Much," and it's INCURABLE! Volunteers have nothing but good things to say about me; I enjoy car rides and children! If you're a fan of friends, waffles, and work, I'm the girl for you! I'm also spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Story
Meet Moo! Moo is a 10 year old old Bull Terrier. Moo is an alpha female with an independent streak, so she needs a very confident and experienced owner. She would do best with a strict schedule, loads of exercise and a lot of training to keep her engaged. Moo needs a home without other animals, and not recommended for a home with children. She would take well to consistent training. Moo would also need a home with a fence. Moo is a love bug, just needs that 'person' that can give her what she needs! If you are familiar with Bull Terriers and love this sweet girl as much as we do, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org. MOO'S ADOPTION FEE IS $100The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    August 7, 2024, 12:49 pm

Story
ROMEO is a 2 year old male, boxer mix. He adopted out as a puppy and was returned when his energy level was underestimated. ROMEO just loves life and everything in it! He is super excited to meet people. And if you look close, he's got a cute, little underbite. We put him through our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program to help "manage" his enthusiasm a little. He can perform all basic obedience tasks if you allow a bit of wiggle and waggle in between. He gets along great with other dogs. He will do best in an adult home with older children. He's not that big at 45 lbs but he might overpower smaller children. He would greatly benefit from a fenced yard. There is nothing like a game of fetch to burn off the energy. ROMEO's ADOPTION FEES ARE WAIVED! If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Romeo's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach. Thank you!

Story
OSCAR is a 7 year old male boxer/hound mix. He currently weighs 52 lbs. Like so many others this year, he was found wandering alone. A kind person took him in to keep him safe. They fostered him for 6 weeks before handing him off to Adopt Me! This gave us valuable information on Oscar. He co-existed nicely with two other dogs and their children. He was left free in the house and never destroyed anything. He came housetrained. All this adds up to - he was someone's pet before being dumped. In order to find out every little quirk, we enrolled OSCAR in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Like the other dogs in the program, he thoroughly enjoys the one on one attention he gets from his inmate. He is learning his obedience quickly. As for his social skills, he's doing well there too. For his age, he still has plenty of pep. He has a beautiful brindle coat and a bit of graying around his muzzle. Just enough to make him look distinguished. He is not fond of cats and and with proper introductions, and the right canine companion, he'd do okay with other dogs. Oscar's best fit will be in a quiet, adult home. He must have a fenced yard as Oscar has a tendency to chase if he sees movement. Older children would be fine. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our application. Please visit our website at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com and click on Oscar's picture in "Adoptable Dogs". Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants based on our "best family fit" approach. Thank you
