Story
Winston is a 7 year old, 35 lb, Carin Terrier mix, he is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Winston will do best with an experienced dog owner, as he has some fear and anxiety due to an abusive past. He prefers women over men, but warms up once he knows he is safe and will not be harmed. Winston is fearful of new dogs, but can get along with them after careful introductions and once he realizes they mean him no harm. Winston needs a quieter home, preferably with a fenced in yard where he feels safe. He has done well with young children in his extended family, but has had limited interactions with kids. We are unsure how he is with cats as they have never crossed paths. Winston likes to spend his free time napping, cuddling with his people or chewing on bones. He loves wearing sweaters when it’s chilly and cuddling on soft blankets. He doesn’t really play and is looking for a nice relaxing place to live out his golden years. Story
Chabelita, a 7 months old, 7lbs (almost fully grown) pub who made an amazing come back with much needed TLC. Just look at her before and after pictures. She’s dog, cat and kid friendly, spayed and needs a place to call home. Playful, fun, curious, and definitely not for an owner who wants her to be a lap dog. This is an active puppy and not suitable for individuals who have mobility challenges due to risk of tripping over her. Don't get us wrong, she can very well be a lap dog but she's a puppy and needs someone to interact with her, show her the world isn't scary, take her places and continue to involve her in social activity. Our adoption process is outlined on our webpage www.tascaslove.org and the application can be found at this link: https://bit.ly/4d7XoKd Adoption area: We prioritize homes within 45 miles of Silver Spring, MD. However, fantastic matches in PA, NJ, NY, and WV will be considered!

Story
MEET ROCKET!!   Rocket is an adorable 8 or so year old 7 pound cairn terrier mix who recently came to PAW from a local shelter.  He is a happy, curious, and friendly pup.  He would do well in an apartment as he doen't need much exercise.  He does have some vision loss but is able to navigate the world with no problem.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Per his foster mom:  "Don’t let his small stature and older age fool you;  this 7-pound senior cutie is ALL spunk and personality!  Rocket may come across as shy at first, but once he starts to settle in his personality really starts to shine. This spunky senior knows EXACTLY what he wants and he isn’t afraid to tell you. When Rocket talks, you should listen; he typically wants to go potty, eat, or play. Rocket is housebroken, but if you ignore his requests to take him out he will have an accident (he’s an old man and can’t hold it like the young-uns).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Rocket gets along well with cats and mostly ignores other dogs. He has done well with children that understand how to be gentle with him. Rocket doesn’t need a big yard to roam, but enjoys wandering the small patio at his foster home to supplement walks (don’t worry, he walks well on a cat harness and leash and also rides well in a car). He loves short, slow walks with lots of stops to smell the roses and fire hydrants, and could never have enough LambChop stuffies.  Rocket is not a big cuddler during the day, but at night he loves sleeping in your bed with you or on the floor right next to the bed.                                                                                                                                                                               Rocket is looking for a home where he will get the gentle and patient attention he deserves and and his family doesn't mind having him be their constant shadow. PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore areas only. ##2090436##

Story
“Mr Westley” – Young male Chihuahua /Westie/Jack Russell mix, (approx. 1.5~2 years old), 6-8#. Busy little guy seeking new home. Currently in foster care as his owners changed jobs and is now out of the area 4 days a week. Shots updated, health checked, blood testing, etc. This little guy is seeking a new family as he has found himself alone and kenneled too many days. He comes into the program as one happy little guy who is well on his way toward socialized, leash trained, who would like nothing more than a new bed to snooze on and a yard to keep rodent free. He is a happy and gentle four-legged partner. He is house trained, LOVES humans but need extra time for new introductions. He is looking for a partner for power walks and couch snoozing. Great road trip partner, beach walker, sidewalk patrol captain, toy tugger, and general all-around good boy. He can jump into your arms. Best Home: High activity with lots of power walks. √ No little Kids √ Fenced Yard and/or power walker √ Lots of energy √ Ball player √ Will sleep in your lap √ House trained Westley says: “I need a new home as my dad got transferred. Lots of tears on both our parts as I loved them too. Now to my requirements for my next life: I would like to have a great home with a human or two to pet me and be my best buddy. I like to play with toys (I am a great ball retriever) so the more the merrier. I am a very good-looking guy as my mom was a Westie but she thinks my dad was a Jack Russel or was he a Chihuahua? Mom was not certain. I am the result of that rendezvous. I love to be by your side in a chair or even better a couch. I love to travel in the car. I would like a window seat near the driver. As a little guy, I will guard you from other dogs and strangers. Once we have a 20 min intro, I am accepting of “newbies”. I have my very own new leash and collar. All I need is YOU and a new bed. A fenced in yard to explore would be wonderful too! Call now as I will be a super best buddy, chair cuddle, and TV watching buddy at night. I like sleeping in my crate as it is my “house”. Call Uncle Stephen today to arrange a visit. Hurry as I would like to get started on sucking up to my new owners and catching up on my beauty sleep. Location: Currently in foster care in Northern VA area. Adoption Ready Breed Standards: Chihuahua is a tiny dog with a huge personality. A national symbol of Mexico, these alert and amusing "purse dogs" stand among the oldest breeds of the Americas, with a lineage going back to the ancient kingdoms of pre-Columbian times. The Chihuahua is a balanced, graceful dog of terrier-like demeanor, weighing in at around 6-8 pounds. The rounded "apple" head is a breed hallmark. The erect ears and full, luminous eyes are acutely expressive. Coats come in many colors and patterns, and can be long or short. The varieties are identical except for coat. Chihuahuas possess loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude. Even tiny dogs require training, and without it this clever scamp will rule your household like a little Napoleon. Compact and confident, Chihuahuas are ideal city pets. They are too small for roughhousing with kids, and special care must be taken in cold weather, but Chihuahuas are adaptable as long as they get lots of quality time in their preferred lap.
