Story
Meet Nena!!! We thought that this girl would have been adopted by now, but here she sits. Nena is a 1.5 year old Cane Corso x Pit mix. She was surrendered by her owners due to a lack of time. This low rider irresistibly chonky girl weighs about 85 lbs. Her favorite pass-times are playing with staff, lounging on a comfy dog bed in her kennel and of course, treats. She has the most beautiful markings. Nena can be a scaredy cat when she first meets new people, but the key to her heart is baby talk and belly rubs. Nena is housetrained, and knows the commands "sit", "lay down" and "give paw". She passed her cat test and can be an alpha with other dogs, but seems like she is pretty dog friendly overall here. Her adoption fee was graciously paid for by United Piping, and she is FREE to a wonderful committed home. We have had her spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and she is heartworm tested negative. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov, OR stop by during our open business hours to meet her!

Story
Dog's Name: Gracie Location : Fort Atkinson, WIAge or Date of Birth: July 2021 (estimate)Gender: FemaleBreed: Cane Corso MixFoster Dog's Weight: 83 lbs Gracie gets along with:Dogs?: All Dogs - Needs a slow introduction to other dogsCats?: Unknown but unlikely due to prey driveKids?:  Older kids, needs slow introduction Gracie came from unfortunate circumstances where she was used for breeding. She had her last litter of puppies in August, 2024.  She had some aggression that developed with pregnancy towards other dogs, but continues to make progress e ch day as the puppies get older and find their furever homes..  Gracie is a very loving girl that wants nothing more than to be by her humans side. She is her foster mom's shadow at all times and loves to cuddle on her lap as well as play with her foster siblings.  However, when they play...they play quite rough, but not aggressive toward one another.  Gracie is working at regaining her trust. She is still timid and scared of the world from her traumatizing history and does get scared when someone talks loud or yells at her. We are still working on basic commands like lay down, but has almost mastered sit and come. She does go to "her room" on command, which is a spare bedroom in her fosters home. Gracie is very fond of chewing, especially boxes/paper products (toilet paper, paper towel, etc.).  If left unsupervised with items around the home, she may or may not chew onthem. She also likes to play with toys with her foster siblings, but typically only plays with interactive toys on her own (puzzle treat toys, etc.). Gracie does have a pray drive and attempts to  catch birds and squirrels, but leaves them when told to leave it. Her perfect adopter would be someone who is patient with her and her training.  She is very smart and obedient once you gain her trust. Ideally her adopter will have experience or know about her guardian breed tendencies. Gracie has not had good interactions with kids so far, but could potentially be around them with continued training.  For now it would be best for her to be in a kid free household.  She does well with other large non-dominant dogs or will also thrive independently with exercise. She does not require a fence, but would require supervision given her prey drive and guardian tendencies. Story
(Arlo) Arlington - Male Cane Corso Age: 2 Years Gets along with: Cats: Needs slow introduction Dogs: Yes- tested with female Kids: Yes, older kids Location: Chicago, IL Weight: 95.1 lbs Arlo is a calm and affectionate dog. He loves riding in the car and we have been having play dates with my boyfriend's neutered female Pit/Border Collie mix, Tulip. He loves splashing in the pond and chasing frogs. He's great at fetching a ball and releases it easily. He sometimes forgets how big he is and has startled Tulip with some rougher play than she likes, but he does immediately back off with verbal prompts or when she growls. He's quite the athlete and runs circles around her and jumps completely over her. He does paw at you for attention, and we're still working on changing that into a shake command, but he will sit and lie down pretty reliably on command. We're still working on his introduction to my cat, FaeFae. He's getting much better at ignoring her, but we still haven't had contact and there is always a barrier between them.He still gets startled at sudden noises, and can get a little over-excited when someone signals play with him (like knocking into your legs trying to roughhouse). Altogether, he's a very calm dog in most situations. Arlo needs a family familiar with large dogs. He would love to have a dog sibling and a fencedyard to play in, but he does well on a long lead when we play in my unfenced yard. I think he would eventually be ok with cats, but still seems like he would love to chase them. Older children who would not startle him and are aware of his size would be best. He loves attention and cuddles, so he would be a great couch companion. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Story
Freyja is a 2 year old female Cane Corso. She has lived on a farmette with her 3 other fur siblings and lots of feathered friends. She is a beautiful girl and has not been spayed. Freyja will need vaccinations if she will be living in a populated area. Loves to cuddle and always waggin’ her little nubbin’ to show how happy she is to see you. Freyja is crate trained and finds that to be her safe place. She is house broken and loves the outside and water. Freyja would do best with an experienced adopter of the breed. If she should have to share her new human with another fur friend, she kindly asks for a slow introduction.
