Story
🖤HOSS😍 Hoss is a handsome, adult, cane corso mix that is ADORED by his foster dad! He was adopted up north but was a little too much dog for his adopter, so we moved him to a foster home to work on his manners and he is excelling! 🐕 Hoss is good with other mellow dogs like himself but prefers to stay away from crazy high-energy friends. He would also be perfectly happy as an only dog! 🫶🏼 This handsome hunk is crate trained with no issues, he just needs a little “cheese motivation” to go in on his own 🤣 once he’s in, he sleeps in his crate with no issues. 💯 Hoss’ biggest challenge was his strength on leash, but he has come so far and with a confident handler, we know he would master loose-leash walking in no time! His only leash trigger is bunnies 🐰 This hunk of love just wants all the attention from humans, big or small, and would thrive with a family that wants a life companion in their dog. Is that you? Arlabelle Calling all adventure pals! ArlaBelle, the sass queen with a heart of gold, is seeking her forever sidekick! Forget the cat lady stereotype, this pup is a one-dog, one-kid kinda gal. She's got the zoomies of a cheetah, the playfulness of a puppy, and the sass of a...well, a sassy dog. Here's the scoop on ArlaBelle: Age: 2 years old (going on 20 with her boundless energy!) Breed: Fawn-tastic Great Dane/Cane Corso mix (think gentle giant with a touch of spicy personality) Kid-friendly: Absolutely! She loves little humans and would be the perfect adventure buddy for exploring the great outdoors. Dog/cat relations: Not a fan. She prefers to be the star of the show (and the couch). Is ArlaBelle your perfect match? If you: Can handle the zoomies (and the occasional furniture rearrangement)?? Appreciate a dog who tells it like it is (even if it's mostly sass)??? Are looking for a loyal companion for endless adventures (and maybe some snuggles on the couch) **Then stop right there! ArlaBelle is waiting for her forever home. Apply today and get ready for a life filled with laughter, love, and maybe a few broken chew toys. ** If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Idris!Idris is on the smaller side for a Cane Corso, only coming in at about 84 lbs at the moment. He's estimated to be at about three years old.Idris came in with twenty other dogs from a cramped apartment in New Bedford where he and his siblings were being kept in the attic. He came to us with an ear infection and an eye ulcer, both of which we've been diligently treating and watching rapidly improve over the month he's been with us. The longer he's been with us, the more we've seen of his amazing personality. He was the biggest baby at first, not wanting to take a single step out of his kennel. Staff had to carry all eighty four pounds of him out to get his vaccinations done! He remained pretty shy for the next week or so, getting more and more social with those who took care of his medications on a daily basis. Nowadays he's a complete and utter goofball. Once he's on the leash, he's a bouncy ball of joy who is eager to show you just how happy he is. While he has some zoomies at first, he's amazing at keeping a heel and staying by your side. Other dogs okay, no cats, kids 10-12yo+. Must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. Fenced in yard PREFERRED. Breed experience or similar breed experience preferred. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

Story
Meet Melody!Melody is the tiniest of the Cane Corsos that we received from the New Bedford case weighing in at only about 68lbs! If we had to guess, we'd say that she has some boxer in there as well. She's estimated to be about four years old.As most of you know, Melody came to us with twenty other dogs from a cramped apartment in New Bedford where she was being kept in the attic. She was in pretty rough shape when she came to us, covered in urine and feces with partially healed wounds on her face. Understandably so, Melody is a nervous girl at first that takes some time to warm up but, when she does...she's all wiggles! She'll hop into your lap and make herself comfortable, whether you are as well or not. She always wants her face right next to yours so that you're readily available for her infinite kisses. She still needs some help just...learning how to be a dog! The leash is still a little bit scary, toys don't quite make sense, and large groups of people make her nervous, but she's getting there!
