Cookies was token very early from his mother we adopted a year ago and haven’t really had the time he deserve he’s a very smart dog to smart for his own good we have to Keep him in the cage while we work because he knows how to get loose from his harness and collars so a fence in yard would be ideal for cookies he usually barks at people when he first meet them to bad anxiety he has been trained but still needs a little more social training I’m just hoping he can find a home where he would get the time and attention he deserves

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Asher. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. I was found dumped in the Fredricktown area and it took about 1-2 weeks for me to be caught using a trap. Once I was caught, I turned into the sweet, happy, loving boy that I truly am. When I was running, I wasn't sure of who I could trust since the human I trusted most in my life dumped me out and left me to fend for myself for reasons unknown. What is known is that I have been a VERY good boy since making my arrival here at the pound. I definitely seem to have had quite a bit of training and with just a little more training and consistency, I would likely be well on my way to making a good service dog for someone. I am super smart and very well mannered. I do like to cuddle and I like to play, so I would also make a great addition to the family for someone that is just looking for a great companion. I have been good around the other dogs that I have met here at the pound. I haven't really engaged in play yet, but I've been walked with and off leash in the play yard with other dogs and I have done well. I do love chasing the birds that fly over my head. The people here say I may not do well with little critters, so caution is encouraged if you have other small pets. I am extremely clean in my kennel and I appear to be completely housebroken. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Freyja. I'm about 1 year old and I weigh about 45 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound through no fault of my own (financial difficulties) and I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a sweet girl that would do best with a confident handler that can help continue my socialization and training. I am intelligent and a treat motivated learner. I am a lot more confident around women. It takes me quite a bit longer to warm up to men. I lived with and did great with cats in my previous home. I wasn't around other dogs in my previous home, but I've been doing well around other dogs here at the pound, though meet and greets are always recommended if you have other dogs. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Grace. I'm about 3 years old and I weigh weigh about 85 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Lisbon area and I was brought into the pound. Aside from having a lot of glue all over my ear, neck, shoulder and feet, I was in good shape upon my arrival, but unfortunately my owner never came looking for me and given the area I was found in, it is believed that I was a drop off. I am a very sweet and affectionate girl. I know basic commands and I listen fairly well, even better if you have a treat to give me. I am clean in my kennel and I appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. I do bark when I am left alone and I will test gates. If I am not in a secure kennel, I will do my best to escape so I can come find you. I will do best if kept in a heavy duty crate while you're away to help keep both me and your belongings safe. I have done okay around other dogs for the most part. I can be a bit dominant and I can easily get overly stimulated if I am not introduced properly, but someone corso savvy shouldn't have any issues with me. Story
Apollo is a sweet dog in need of a loving home. He loves to run around outside, snuggle with other dogs if you have them, and is an excellent guard dog. Our family just had our first baby and are planning to move. We aren’t able to give him the attention he deserves or the space. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and owners home often. Apollo does have some anxiety issues, he is in need of kennel training
