Chocolate Chip (aka Chip) is a special little dude. He has the cutest little stumpy legs, fuzzy ears and fluffy fox tail. His striking good looks are likely a mix of corgi and shepherd.
Chip had a bit of a rough start, but is doing great at adapting to his new life. He was under socialized until arriving at Rescue Network. While he lived outside with a lot of other dogs, his exposure to human interaction was very limited. This resulted in a dude that is very unsure about humans, rightfully so. In the time he has been with his foster, he made big strides with life. He is doing great in a calm environment, learning all things dog from his foster mom & dog friend.
Chip’s ideal home would have a confident resident dog, that can continue to show him the way of being a dog. Since walking on a leash makes him super nervous, a fenced in yard would be ideal, where he can explore on his own (with supervision). He loves to romp along with the resident dog, wrestling, chewing on sticks and attempting fetch. He is food & treat motivated, and currently eats his meals out of his foster mom’s hand. This is to work on him associating human interaction with all the good and yummy things. Being pet is still something he is unsure about, but we are working hard to show that humans can be good.
He does a great job of doing his business outside, and when not able to go outside, will use puppy pads in his pen inside. He has a safe space inside, where he can retreat when anxious about the world around him. He loves his crate and often carries a toy in with him for company. He sleeps through the night in his crate without issue. I think he would do fine with dog-savvy cats. He’s met the resident cats through a pen and is curious about the strange creatures.

The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org).
Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration).
Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.
