Story
Thor is a charming 3 year and 1 month old Carolina dog/ Shepherd mix who loves toys and car rides. He knows how to use a leash and loves to go for walks. The ideal partner for Thor would be someone with whom he can off-load his energy and socialize on walks. Don't think twice and fall in love with him! She is a beautiful dog but nothing compares to her personality which is AMAZING! Volunteers always comment on her sweet gentle demeanor. Talk about a true mutt. We don't know her breed according to Google she is some type of Cur dog or carolina dog, however, Almond was rescued from Mexico so she's Likely a shepherd or labrador mix? Who knows! We just know she is an amazing medium breed adorable mutt and adopters are welcome to do a DNA for fun! What we do know about Almond:She is a sweet outgoing happy go lucky dog with a beautiful personality and attitude towards both humans and dogs alike. We don't know how she would be with cats but we imagine she would be great with them after a short period introduction for her to get used to them and them to her. With Almond what you see is what you get. Take a look at her videos to understand what a great dog she is. Almond is pretty full grown. At a medium size breed in the 30s pound perhaps reaching 40lbs. Perfect size, not too small, not too big :)Currently fostered with 3 adult humans and a couple young dogs. She is fostered along with her friends Benji and Princess also available for adoption and to foster. BUT when she goes to adoption events she loves to make friends left and right with other arwober dogs.  She is crate trained and is great on leash walks! If you are looking for an outgoing, fun, playful and very loving gentle personality dog, almond is your girl!Have time to adopt or foster a dog? Great! Story
Bonnie was left to die after being hit by a car south of Tijuana. Luckily, thanks to numerous people, she is still with us! When Robin heard first heard about Bonnie and her current (at the time) situation, she jumped right into action! It was Friday afternoon when she was alerted and by Saturday Morning, Bonnie was at our vet in San Diego! She was put into casts to help her legs set and then spent some time recovering with Robin and friends. Bonnie’s healing journey wasn’t over after her casts. Some of her bones weren’t going to set correctly and she would have a hard time in life without extra support. Bonnie’s prayers were answered yet again when she had the opportunity to meet with an orthopedic surgeon. The surgeon placed metal plates in her back legs and hips so she would be able to (after recovery) walk and run with ease! This was made possible by a wonderful family in the community who graciously offered to sponsor her for this costly surgery. We want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for helping her! She will be able to live a full and complete life thanks to them!! While Bonnie is still recovering, she is still available for adoption! She hasn’t let this bump in the road affect her wonderful aura. She is very mellow, kind, loving and listens very well! She is such a happy girl and is always beaming even if she is stuck laying down. She is going to make a wonderful addition to any home. She survived and is here for a reason! We hope the treason includes you! Apply on our website today! FOSTER: www.dmdr.org/foster ADOPT: www.dmdr.org/adopt

Story
Meet Marie! This girl is always down for adventure (unfortunately, without her people)! This girl has gotten lose 4 different times from adopters and fosters and has trekked from North County to South County of San Diego prior to landing with us. With the proper adopter, this girl is aiming to please, does great with dogs and is devoted to her inner circle of people. Due to her ability to escape, she can NEVER be left unattended (crated when you are gone or can't keep an eye on her) and walked on a double leash. We know this doesn’t make her sound like the most appealing dog in the world, but we promise you, once you meet her, the extra safety measures won't seem that bad.  She wants nothing more than to please and be with her people.  Her escape tendencies come from years living at large in the desert and protecting her pups.  She can jump (impressively), climb, leverage, dig, you name it.  Loud noises and the unexpected scare her.  She has blossomed from being aloof to approaching every new person looking for food and love.  She is loyal, loving, kind and forgiving.  She is solid with dogs and balanced with a neutral mate.  She loves to explore the world on leash and just hang out if that is preferred.  It's been a year in the making but she is more than ready to graduate to her future home.  She needs a forever that will keep her safe no matter what and she'll love your forever in return. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  NO offleash activities in unfenced areas for life.
