If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Adoption Application.   ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis.  We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.  Meet Nick – A Smart, Determined, and Loving Companion! Named after the brilliant blind scientist and mathematician Nicholas Saunderson, Nick is an intelligent and affectionate 8-year-old Carolina Dog, weighing in at 72 lbs. Despite being blind, he navigates the world with confidence and an incredible sense of smell—he’s an independent thinker who prefers to figure things out on his own! Nick is friendly with other dogs once properly introduced, though he may initially react defensively due to his blindness. He does well with the resident dogs, but when it comes to cats, he’s still figuring them out—his curiosity about them is evident. He absolutely loves his twice-daily walks and patiently waits while you put on his walking vest. However, he’s a strong puller, especially when he catches an interesting scent or wants to meet a new friend, so he’ll need someone capable of handling his enthusiasm. Nick is house-trained, crate-trained, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He’s looking for a patient, loving home that will appreciate his intelligence, resilience, and affectionate nature. Could you be the one to give Nick the forever home he deserves? If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete the online Adoption Application.  If you would like to donate to this pet's care, please click here. Story
Once upon a time, a cool dude led a scary life until he ended up in the home of a devoted foster mom where he learned to sparkle and shine. That foster mom taught him that being a dog can be a lot of fun. She showed him how to have best dog friends, how to get pets, how to be potty trained and how to love. Morty has come a LONG WAY from the hoarding situation he was seized from 18 months ago. He rings a bell to go outside for potty. He initiates play with other dogs and adapts to different play styles. He gets onto the couch with his foster momma for snuggles and curls up next to her bed each night. His favorite things, you ask? - squeaky toys, balls, treat balls, snuffle matsHe loves kibble/yogurt ice cubes, frozen berries, pumpkin, zucchini, carrots, oranges, other dogs and people who give him a chance. Be a part of this young man's journey. Contact us to meet him today!
