Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Squirelly Dan, or SD, had quite the New Year's Eve adventure, found hiding inside a bar after likely escaping his yard due to fireworks. Named for his escape artist tendencies, SD has been working on his leash skills and learning to stay put in his crate with the help of his foster dad, a certified dog trainer. SD is a high-energy, playful little guy who adores other dogs, especially his bestie, a 65-pound pittie mix. He loves to do zoomies, chase squirrels, and be with his human. A real Velcro dog, SD keeps an eye on his person and loves attention and pets. He's not a fan of being picked up but loves car rides and exploring new places and will happily jump into the car by himself. While SD hasn't been introduced to children, he gets along well with dogs of all sizes. Cats, however, are a definite no due to his prey drive. SD is food-motivated making training easy! He quickly learned commands like "stay". He's not mouthy or bitey but will nudge you for attention and do a little dance when he wants pets. SD would do best in a home with another playful dog. If he is crated, a strong crate will be a must to keep this clever escape artist contained. When he gets bored he will try and escape his crate. He'll bark a bit in the crate when bored but is not an incessant barker. SD would thrive with an active owner who can meet his energy levels and keep him entertained both mentally and physically! SD's ideal home is one where someone is around often or can take him along on adventures. He loves being with his human and dog siblings, making him a fantastic companion for an active family with another dog. If you're looking for a happy, energetic, and affectionate pup, Squirrelly Dan might be the perfect match for you. He has not been introduced to children. He does seem to have a high prey drive and will chase squirrels and cats. Squirelly Dan is from Texas.
