Story
There's nothing quite like puppy sweetness and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving and sweet as can be puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the city streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Sunshine is 5 months old and 30 lbs. She is believed to be a Catahoula / Lab mix, and her full grown weight is estimated to be around 50 lbs. Sunshine is a sweet and loving puppy! She has that wonderful kind of energy that is just irresistible. Sunshine's foster has let us know that she is potty trained, great with kids, great with dogs, and even knows how to "sit"! We think she is the best behaved 5 month old pup we have ever met!! Sunshine was abandoned about 3 months ago in the lobby of a Houston rescue group that we work with, sick and weak. The people that dumped her knew she was sick and desperate. While frustrating, we are thankful they didn't leave her in a park or side of the road. With their medical staff and an experienced parvo foster, Sunshine made it through to the other side! Sunshine has beat parvo, and is now so happy and healthy and ready to find a forever home. Sunshine is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This snuggly little girl would be very excited to be a couch potato to snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active, busy day. Even at just 4 months old, it's very clear that this sweetie is SO smart, very engaging and happy as can be - very typical of both the Catahoula and Greyhound personalities. There are many that feel that these two breeds are among the most intelligent and sweet-natured in the dog world. Since Sunshine is just a puppy, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in her relationship/bonding with her people. It does take time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feel very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training classes that are virtual or in-person. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Sunshine out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area. We're open to Sunshine finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a puppy that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Sunshine enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Sunshine will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Extensive new research shows that Sunshine is far too young to be spayed at this time. When she's approximately 12 months old, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Sunshine's microchip and spay if one of our rescue vets is used. Sunshine is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet as can be, SO snuggly and super-loving puppy. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Sunshine, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Spread the word -- Nine Catahoula puppies coming soon! A friend of ours at SDR has a neighbor who ended up with an accidental litter (long story). The owner of the pregnant mom moved back to Texas and left her, and didn’t come back. So the neighbor has taken on the responsibility of legal ownership, raising the puppies and now the process of finding nine excellent homes. These are purebred Catahoula puppies. They're 7 weeks old and will be ready to go to their forever homes starting 8/25. They have been very well socialized during their neonatal period… and mom was well cared for during pregnancy. They live with kids, dogs, horses and are inside a home. See a fun video of one of the puppies with an adorable little kid on our SDR Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/summitdogrescue?comment_id=Y29tbWVudDo4MjQ4NTI4OTk3NzM3MzZfODY1NTM0ODIxNjY5MzM4 We're looking for Catahoula savvy adopters who are active and committed to loving them and meeting their needs (mentally and physically). For more info email us at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Story
Hi! I'm CJ, and I'm a 50 pound cattle dog mix, about 5 years old. I like everyone I meet, canine or human. No one is a stranger to me! My favorite things:-Making canine and human friends-Belly rubs, naps, and cuddling-Food!-Walks with stops to smell things. What I'm looking for in a home:-Another dog friend! (preferred but not required)-Either a yard, or someone that enjoys spending time outside and lets me sniff around-People who are home a lot and wont leave me alone too much! I'm the bestest boy and am ready to settle into the next part of my life! I do well in a kennel if my dog friend is next to me, I walk nicely on leash, know a few tricks, and do the best full body wiggle when I see you!  Do I sound like the buddy for you?! If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $250 and I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. I have genetically bad hips and the rescue is in the process of fixing them for me. I had the first one fixed and am recovering from that currently but doing better every day! (I can still walk 2-3 miles a day, It really isnt slowing me down too much) ##1538559##

Story
Drummer Boy is a 9 month old Catahoula. He is loyal, loving and a good friend. Very intelligent guy who loves to play and be outside. Unfortunately Drummer is very protective of his family and territory. He does well with other dogs and strangers in a neutral environment but at home he shows signs of aggression. We have two toddlers who crawl all over him and he is very tolerant of them. It takes him awhile to warm up but when he does you'll never have a more loyal and beautiful companion.

Meet Cricket, a young dog with a gentle heart and a timid yet endearing personality. At first, Cricket might be a little shy as he warms up to new faces and environments, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet nature shines through. Due to his shy nature he would do best in a home with children 10+. He has met another dog at the shelter and seemed interested in play so bring your dog down to see if they would be best friends! If you`re looking for a loyal and tender-hearted companion, Cricket might just be your perfect match. What I Need In a Home:* Kids 10+ mandatory
