Story
Meet Cricket, a young dog with a gentle heart and a timid yet endearing personality. At first, Cricket might be a little shy as he warms up to new faces and environments, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet nature shines through. Due to his shy nature he would do best in a home with children 10+. He has met another dog at the shelter and seemed interested in play so bring your dog down to see if they would be best friends! If you`re looking for a loyal and tender-hearted companion, Cricket might just be your perfect match. What I Need In a Home:* Kids 10+ mandatory

Story
Drummer Boy is a 9 month old Catahoula. He is loyal, loving and a good friend. Very intelligent guy who loves to play and be outside. Unfortunately Drummer is very protective of his family and territory. He does well with other dogs and strangers in a neutral environment but at home he shows signs of aggression. We have two toddlers who crawl all over him and he is very tolerant of them. It takes him awhile to warm up but when he does you'll never have a more loyal and beautiful companion.

Story
Hi! I'm CJ, and I'm a 50 pound cattle dog mix, about 5 years old. I like everyone I meet, canine or human. No one is a stranger to me! My favorite things:-Making canine and human friends-Belly rubs, naps, and cuddling-Food!-Walks with stops to smell things. What I'm looking for in a home:-Another dog friend! (preferred but not required)-Either a yard, or someone that enjoys spending time outside and lets me sniff around-People who are home a lot and wont leave me alone too much! I'm the bestest boy and am ready to settle into the next part of my life! I do well in a kennel if my dog friend is next to me, I walk nicely on leash, know a few tricks, and do the best full body wiggle when I see you!  Do I sound like the buddy for you?! If you're interested in meeting me please fill out an application at www.thegooddogrescue.org (If you already have an approved application, please email thegooddogrescueadoptions@gmail.com with your interest in me!) My adoption fee is $250 and I am neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. I have genetically bad hips and the rescue is in the process of fixing them for me. I had the first one fixed and am recovering from that currently but doing better every day! (I can still walk 2-3 miles a day, It really isnt slowing me down too much) ##1538559##

Story
Meet Ocean, the brave and friendly puppy who is looking for her forever home! Ocean is a delightful bundle of joy with a heart as big as the ocean itself. This sweet pup has a playful spirit and a loving nature that will melt your heart. Ocean is a social butterfly who thrives on making new friends, both furry and stuffed! She adores playing with other dogs, wagging her tail with pure joy as she frolics and explores. Ocean's playful antics and friendly demeanor make her a beloved companion for pups of all shapes and sizes. When she's not busy engaging in playful romps with her canine pals, Ocean can be found cuddled up with her favorite stuffed animals, happily snuggling and giving them gentle kisses. Her tender and affectionate nature shines through in every interaction, making her the perfect cuddle buddy for cozy nights in. Ocean's bravery is truly inspiring, as she faces new adventures with a fearless spirit and an open heart. She approaches each day with a sense of wonder and curiosity, eager to explore the world around her and share her infectious joy with those she meets.   This pup was rescued from a shelter in New Mexico. She came in with a large abscess under her chin which has since been treated.  Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2131099##
