APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: SWEETIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-30-22 approx. WEIGHT: 30 approx. BREED: Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY Kaylee, our foster’s oldest granddaughter, was with her one day and they saw a dog on the side of the road—she was lovingly obedient and was waiting for the person that dumped her to come back and pick her up. This was not the first time they saw the dog, so Kaylee begged her grandma to turn around and go back. Kaylee gently picked her up and put her in the car—of course they brought her home. It was obvious that this dog was abandoned; they noticed that people had been feeding her with scraps that were on the side of the road. However, Kaylee was very worried that she was going to get hit. Kaylee named her “Sweetie”, she is probably about nine months old and she’s heartworm negative. She’s already on prevention and she’s had all her vaccinations. She just needs to be spayed which we can get done as soon as possible. Sweetie is very grateful and appreciative. She knows that she’s been rescued and she’s obviously a good dog. PERSONALITY Sweetie is a beautiful Catahoula Cur mix. She was blessed with all the gorgeous markings and rich colors on her coat. She is the still a typical “baby” and she craves love, attention, and safety. According to foster mom, she is super friendly, and warms right up to anyone that is dishing out love. She has a sweet disposition and has an all-around sweet nature. She keeps right up with her foster siblings, running, playing, and rolling around the grass enjoying all the silly antics going on. Patricia, her foster mom, tells us that she is not sure how she would be with the cats if left unattended. She is very good-natured, so happy to feel healthy again, eager to learn all about her new life and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. CHILDREN Sweetie is very friendly loves kids and gets along with all other dogs, however, she is still a puppy, she gets along with anyone. Children will love to run and play with her, but we always strongly suggest that no dog, young or old, should ever be left unsupervised with children until everyone is very comfortable in all situations. ABOUT THE BREED When considering adding a new member to the family it is important to research breeds so that everyone, including the new pup, is comfortable and happy. The Catahoula Cur is a loyal, independent, and watchful breed. They are a medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle, watchdogs and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula Cur is also an intelligent, hardworking, and loyal dog breed, which makes it a dependable addition to many families. They love the great outdoors and are the ideal dog for owners who like to explore nature and stay active. We are looking forward to finding Sweetie her forever home, so that this chapter will close for her. We want her to live a life of love and happiness with her new family. Her rough beginning is in the past, she is a delight, and will make a wonderful companion for a family looking to offer her a loving home. She has been given a great start with her foster family, they restored her confidence in humans and gave her the love and security she needed. If you think Sweetie would be a good fit for your family, she will absolutely bring you years of love, joy, companionship, and lots of fun, too! Story
Sadie is an extremely loving 50lb catahoula/Pit mix female who was born on October 7, 2021. What a beauty she is and one with great manners.  She is fully potty trained and crate trained, spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Sadie comes from a neglect situation and is eager to make up for all the cuddles and play time she didn’t receive growing up in her former home. She has an extremely resilient personality and an eager to please temperament. She sincerely craves human interaction and will follow you around the house to be a part of everything you’re doing. When hugged, she likes to hug back by tucking her head around you and pressing in. She cooperates very well for bath time and settles well on car rides. Sadie behaves nicely in public spaces and happily accepts belly rubs from strangers. She has very limited experience around children but is happy to meet everyone she comes across. She is not recommended to homes with very young children simply for the concern of potential knocking them down. She has learned to sit when she wants to be pet, but may occasionally jump up if overly excited. Sadie must go to a home without other pets due to resource guarding around dogs (this does not apply to humans, she is submissive toward humans) and prey drive toward cats.  Her energy level is medium-high. She loves playing fetch to burn off energy, and would probably run for hours if given the opportunity, but she can also settle calmly on those days when it’s stormy or you’re too busy for intensive exercise. She likes to entertain herself with her toys, and is particularly fond of carrying the stuffed toys around to show them off. She needs someone who can deeply connect with her on an emotional level, and would be well suited to the role of emotional support animal (please note: due to resource guarding she is not suitable for the role of service dog, which is different from emotional support animal).    If you want to give this girl a great home to thrive within, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue  at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 30, 2024, 2:10 pm

Meet BAM! Bam is now 2 years, 2 months old and 62 lbs. He was abandoned in McKenzie, TN at a rental property. HOW HORRID! He had much higher energy back in Feb 2023. But with an AMAZING, dedicated foster Mom...Bam has established a regular exercise routine and he has nicely smoothed out his energy now. Bam's 'thing' is his georgeous blue eyes. They look like jewels glistening at ya! I did the breed app check. And if shows mostly American Fox Hound with mix of Louisianna Catahoula Leopard. I'm going with it as his breed has had us puzzled. Bam is great with all the dogs in his foster home...of both genders, all ages, and various breeds. He is good on leash, rides well, crates & house trained. Heath is available for adoption in TX, PNW, and NE (excluding MA & NH) Meet Heath, a 8-month-old Catahoula mix with energy and personality to spare! He's a playful, silly boy who loves to be the first to jump into playtime and equally enjoys crashing for a good nap afterward. Heath was a breeze to potty train and actually enjoys his crate time, especially with a chew toy to keep him company. His favorite things include belly rubs and basking in the sun-though he doesn't mind a little fun if you interrupt him for a quick photo op! Heath is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever home. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Story
Pete was found running loose in the country. Some nice people befriended him, fed him, and socialized him a little before reaching out to the rescue. The day we picked him up, he had never had a collar on, did not know what a leash was, had never been in a car or a crate and had never been ,inside. He is somewhat submissive and gets along with all dogs. He has acclimated quite well to indoor living, loves to snuggle and is house trained. He is a little nervous around new people and new surroundings but adjsts quickly. With his one blue eye and one amber eye his is quite striking in appearance. His one flaw is chewing on things, shoes, pens, pencils, dish towels, etc. so things need to be out of his reach when he is alone.
