Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Bobb, and I’m just a baby!  They say I’m a Catahoula Lab mix, whatever that means. I’m on the hunt for a home where I can share all my love and energy. I’m great with kids, adults, and other dogs, bonus, I’m super friendly, so I’ll fit right in with your family! I’ve got a reputation as a big lover boy – giving kisses and cuddles is how I show I care! I also love to play, but watch out, if you’re not paying attention, I might bark to get you to join me in some fun. I love toys, water, and any opportunity to hang with my people. I’m pretty good in the car and will be a great travel buddy. As I grow older, I’ll need some training and socialization to help me become the best dog I can be. I’m eager to please, so I’ll be a quick learner and with the right guidance, I’ll be a well-rounded, happy, and well-behaved pup, ready for lots of adventures with my active family! If you're looking for a goofy, affectionate, and playful pup, I'm your guy! Let’s make some memories together! Bobb is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/22 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am-12pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 15, 2025, 4:37 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Kevin.  I was found, abandoned in a box at a construction job site.  It was just days before a big freeze down in Texas, and we were all only 7 days old!  We were all brought into rescue, and bottle fed for the beginning of our lives.  We have all received proper nutrition and age appropriate veterinary car, and now it is time for everyone to find their very own homes!   I’m pretty new here, and I’m excited to see what a “family” is all about!  They say my brother and I are a Catahoula Lab mixes, whatever that means. I’m on the hunt for a home where I can share all my love and energy. I’m great with kids, adults, and other dogs.   Kevin is a young, energetic dog who is full of personality. He has been working diligently on his leash-training with his current Texan Foster, and they have found that he and does better on a harness for walks than a collar.  (We also recommend walking all dogs using a harness and not their collar for safety reasons)  Kevin is also working on potty training, but is no where near fully trained.  Consistency is key when potty training puppies.  They all work on the following schedule.. sleep, eat, play, poop and repeat!  taking your pup outside immediately upon waking up, bringing them back inside for breakfast, and then back outside again 20-30 minutes later to "do their business".  Making sure not to play with him while he's supposed to be going potty, as puppies have notoriously short attention spans.  Kevin is kennel trained and takes his meals, as well as any high value treats, there as well.   Bonus, I’m super friendly, so I’ll fit right in with your family!  I am a larger puppy and full of that puppy vigor, so I might not be the perfect pup for a family with young children that could possibly be knocked over.  I love to play, and I’m learning how to do play gently.  They know I can be gentle, because I am so gentle with my blankie during naps. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus taxBono is currently in boarding while we continue to search for a foster or adoptive home. While boarding is safe it willl never compare to laying on a soft bed in his own home. Let’s get Bon into a home where he can build human connections and thrive!Meet Bonnaroo AKA Bono! This handsome fella needs a strong, gentle pack leader who will not allow him to be in charge.  Yes he is a big boy and can be a bit overwhelming to some but when he knows you are the boss because you guide him to do the right thing, he is all yes ma’am, yes sir.  He will need continued training and yes, we have a trainer already set up to work with him.  We just need a adopter or foster who is willing to put in the time for socialization and training.  He will thrive in an environment that has boundaries and expectations for him to follow. He is true to his people and although needs a minute to be ok with strangers, once he is comfortable, he is all snuggles and happy wiggles. He is housebroken and crate trained and walks well on a leash.  Right now he prefers to be the only dog in the home.  He can be around other dogs, but is a bit awkward and wants to show them he is the boss.  Yes, the trainer will help with that. Look at that face…. Won’t you help Bonnaroo be all he can be?? If you have applied with us in the past, simply email us to reconnect at placement@midwestanimalrescue.org.   Let's get this big guy home!!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Cowabunga Dude!   Meet Rafael! He was born approximately March, 2024.  He came from a litter of 4. They named the puppies in the litter after the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  We welcomed him into our home as our newest foster when he was around 5 weeks old. He was so tiny at 3 pounds that you could put him in your pocket. Boy has that changed! Today he weighs about 30 pounds! He's such a cute little snuggle bug. He loves to play and wrestle with his foster sister Wasp. He does great with our other two resident dogs as well! He's super friendly with everyone he meets. We're still working on the house training though. He will let you know when he needs to go outside to use the bathroom but if you don't stop what you're doing right away and let him out, he'll decide to just do his business wherever he's standing. He sleeps every night in crate with no issues at all. He gets along great with our children ages 8, 12, and 14. They love to sit and give him lots of love and attention. He'll even lay down and take naps with them while they're watch TV or playing video games.  Come check out Rafael and maybe you'll hit it off and your home could be his furever home!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:    $550.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 17, 2025, 2:47 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $450 plus taxHello, this is Mal AKA Buffy. Mal is very sweet and loves to be with her people and cuddle. She is house trained and gets along with cats and dogs who respect her boundries. She also has a funny habit of smiling at you when she’s really excited. Mal thinks that she’s a lap dog and doesn’t realize how big she actually is. She’s likes to eat in her kennel to have her own space and does great at kenneling when needed. She does well with kids but can knock them over with excitement so might do best with older kids. Mal would do well being an only dog. She would benefit from someone who could work with her a little so she can be the best dog. If you are looking for that best friend that likes to cuddle on the couch then Mal is your girl.If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.
