Story
Meet Jesper!
Jesper is a 6-year-old, 19-lb King Charles Cavalier with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. A survivor of a puppy mill, Jesper is still learning what it means to be a dog and experience love in a home. As a lower-energy dog, he’s looking for a patient adopter who will meet him where he is and help him blossom at his own pace.
Jesper can be startled by fast movements and loud noises, but he finds comfort in his crate, which serves as his safe haven. He comes and goes as he pleases, using it as a space to recharge while he adjusts to the world around him.
One of Jesper’s biggest joys is spending time with the other dog in his foster home. He adores his canine companion, following him around, taking cues, and even joining in playtime. Jesper would thrive in a home with another confident, social dog to guide him and show him the ropes.
Jesper has not yet learned how to walk on a leash, so he will need a secure, fenced-in yard where he can explore safely and gain confidence at his own pace. While Jesper hasn’t quite figured out toys yet, his curiosity is growing, and it’s clear he’s on the brink of discovering a whole new world of fun. He has been doing wonderfully with potty training, when kept on a regular schedule, and he hasn’t had any accidents in his crate. Jesper also sleeps soundly through the night.
This gentle boy is starting to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like chin and ear scratches, and his tail wags are becoming more frequent as he grows comfortable. He especially loves cozying up on the couch in the evenings and has a soft spot for cheese—it’s his favorite treat!
With time, love, and consistency, Jesper is sure to grow into an even more affectionate companion. His adopter can look forward to watching him flourish and rewarding their patience with loyalty, trust, and quiet moments of joy.
Jesper is currently being fostered in Cincinnati, OH. His adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
