Meet Calista – A Heart Ready to Heal and Love
At just four years old and 20lbs, Calista has already survived more than most dogs should ever have to. This sweet King Charles Cavalier was rescued from a puppy mill, where she spent her entire life confined to a kennel, forced to have litter after litter with no love, no comfort, and no kindness.
Now safe in a loving foster home, Calista is beginning her journey of healing and discovery. She’s experiencing life for the very first time—things many dogs take for granted, like the feel of grass under her paws, the sound of a TV in the background, and the gentle touch of a human hand. Each “first” is a quiet, beautiful victory.
And yet—despite everything she’s been through—Calista's tail never stops thumping. It's a soft, steady reminder of her hope, her resilience, and her willingness to trust again. That gentle wag tells a story all its own.
Though she’s not yet potty trained or leash trained, Calista is eager to learn and has a calm, gentle spirit that makes her a joy to guide. She does wonderfully in her crate and gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, from 10 pounds to 60 pounds.
Calista has spent her life giving everything she had. Now, it’s her turn to receive. She’s ready for a family who will cherish her, spoil her, and give her the happy ending she’s always deserved.
If you have room in your heart and home, Calista is ready to fill it—with quiet gratitude, soft snuggles, and that ever-thumping tail full of hope.
Calista is fostered in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Her adoption fee is $450.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
