Story
CHUBBS is a handsome dark brown lab mix but is very shy with humans until he gets to know you.  He is currently living in the shelter, which for a boy like him is not the ideal place to see his true potential.  CHUBBS is now UTD on all his vetting as well as neutered.  We believe CHUBBS would do well in a quiet home with someone who wants a laid back loyal companion.  If you are interested in meeting CHUBBS please apply at buttsmutts.com ##2010996##

Story
Hershey is an eight-year-old, 60-pound lab mix picked up by the shelter as a stray dragging a chain. He was thin and not in great shape, but he quickly made friends in the shelter, and they begged us to take him. They told us that he loved squeaky toys and balls, was treat-motivated, knew how to sit, lie down, stay, and shake, and was also good on a leash. He was lucky to find a great foster home and is doing well with their large senior female lab. If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Hershey, please click the “Adopt” button and submit an Adoption application. FROM THE FOSTER: If you’re looking for a loyal companion and a dog to keep you safe, Hershey is the guy for the job. He’s a very healthy seven-year-old, 70-pound neutered male. Fantastic in the house - perfectly house trained, can be left alone without being crated, knows commands like sit and stay. He likes to hang out with his people/people go for rides in the car, play ball, and be in a house with a female dog. Hershey was found as a stray dragging a chain. When he was fostered in a home where he was safe, warm, and fed, he realized he’d never had it so good, so he tended to want to guard his home from strangers. We can provide additional information about this. If you live a quiet life without many strangers coming over and want a loyal companion, please get in touch with us to learn more.  ##1132863##

Story
Star is a two-year-old, 30-pound lab mix that was picked up by the shelter. While she was seemingly in good shape with a shiny coat and good weight, her eyes were severely damaged, and she was terrified not to be able to see the barking dogs around her or know that she was safe from them. She stayed curled in a ball pressed against the chain link the whole time she was there. She dared not move from that spot because she didn't know what was around her. Once we got her to the vet, she did the same thing, curling up in a corner and not moving even to eat or go to the bathroom. Fortunately, We found a foster and got her into a quiet home. Unfortunately, as soon as she relaxed and trusted, it was time for her to go to the vet to be spayed. An exam of her eyes proved that she was blind, and her eyes were likely causing her great pain, so they were both removed. She is not comfortable with her blindness, and we are not sure what happened, but it is evident that she has not lived her life this way. Although scared, there is no aggression toward people or other dogs, and we think that another friendly dog to mentor her would be great. She spends her days on her bed, her safe space, and only moves to eat or potty, which she dutifully does on the "pee pads" in her room. Star has a challenging road ahead of her, but she is coming along well, and with some patience and time, she has so much potential to have a whole and happy life. If you want to nurture this girl along this new road, ALR will stand beside you and give you all the support needed.  If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Star, please click the "Adopt" button and submit an Adoption application. ##805877##

Story
Naboo is a three-year-old, 55-pound mix that was surrendered to the shelter because her owner had a new job and was traveling internationally. Poor Naboo was so frightened in the shelter. No wonder because the information from the owner indicated that she had lived in the same home most of her life. He said she was housebroken, didn’t chew or dig, and was good with kids and other dogs. Like at the shelter, she is overwhelmed and sad in boarding. While at the adoption day, she trembled the whole time. She misses her home and longs to return to a calm, quiet situation where she feels safe. If you want to adopt or foster to adopt Naboo, please click the “Adopt” button and submit an Adoption application. ##1705393##
