Story
Jagger is a 7-months, 65 lbs. Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix pup. Jagger’s name was chosen because of his lively and sassy spirit reminiscent of Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones’ lead singer. Jagger is great with dogs of any size and loves women and children. He can take some time to warm up to men but will soon show his sweet nature as soon as he feels loved. His foster says that Jagger loves walking near his mom and is very obedient. Her grandchildren aged 4 and 6 hug him and play with him every day. Because he is food-oriented, he learned commands such as sit and “do not jump on people” in Spanish (his foster mom speaks Spanish to him). This big puppy is potty-trained but is still learning to walk on leash. Jagger doesn’t go after cats during his walks, but we don’t know how he will act with indoor cats since there are none in his current home. Just like many other Texas dogs, Jagger was found abandoned in a trailer park in the greater Houston area. A volunteer brought him to safety when some neighbors threatened to shoot him. Despite this traumatic experience, this puppy only has love to give.
This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)

Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
